Hi Robert,

I tried to fulfill this for you today, but the dates on the stone I found are different than you requested. The stone is hard to read, but it appears to state: Mary E. Beckley 1886 - 1921. I'll go ahead and post the image, but just wanted to let you know of the differences.

I am preparing to go to the Alva Municipal Cemetery to take tombstone photos. You requested one of Florence Black, however she is not listed in the cemetery records.

RE: Thank You
You're welcome Robert. I was sorry to find the stone in its current state, but luckily all the information was still on it. So many grave stones in that cemetery have not aged gracefully, and still more are in worse condition.

You are very welcome. I was able to discern "Barnes" on the stone, so I am sure I got the correct one.

Thank you for taking the tombstone pic for Rollie Critchfield. Can you post it on the memorial for his wife Edna #12958922 as well?

I am going to try to hike back up there in a few days. I want to get some additional pictures. A friend from Vermont is also interested in Jared Lobdell. There is another cemetery in the area with a lot of Lobdells in it if you are interested

RE: John Liggett
You're quite welcome! It always discouraging when one's search ends in discovering an interment without a marker. I've come across a number of them in fulfilling photo requests, additional ones at Allegheny included.

RE: John Liggett
Hello Robert,
You need to look at the captions that I added to John Liggett's photos. Unfortunately, he's buried in an unmarked grave, as well as the other 5 individuals in the same plot. If you go to Allegheny Cemetery's web site, Genealogy, John's listed in Section 9, Lot 111. Using Resources, you'll be able to pull up a map of Section 9, and Lot 111. As you'll see, none of those interred have a headstone. Apparently, at one time, there was a stone on Grave 1 that's no longer there.

You are welcome. That is a beautiful cemetery! I also added photos of Abram B, Frank Wm, Glen Earl, Mac Arthur, and Reeta Bell Corbin. They were in the same plot as Walter. Thought they might be family.

RE: Thank you

If you want the high resolution photos of any of the stones, just let me know. They weren't easy to get because the cemtery is very shady as you probably know. But I've learned to photograph such stones using light that's reflected from a mirror - not directly onto the face of the stone, but from the side. This is what casts a heavy shadow into even the most shallow inscription and makes it "pop."

You're welcome, Robert. My husband, Jim Boyce, is also a Lobdell descendant, so I've been trying to photograph the known Lobdell stones in Rutland County. But, because we live in CA, our time in VT is short and I'm working my way through my "to do" list very slowly.
