I found the whole article about Mr. Fleming being wounded in Italy during WW II in some boxes of old newspapers that I got from my aunt. Do you want it for this listing, or do you know his family and think they would want a copy of it. I can scan it and put it on the listing if you want it on there. It is about 3"x4".

Kent Kooi and I have been doing research on the men of the 4th Iowa Cavalry for over three years. We would also like to ask your permission to use your headstone photo of Jonathan Davis in a Power Point presentation we are putting together to donate to the historical societies in several Iowa counties. We would credit the photo as "Courtesy of Ahwahneeliz" or your name if you'd care to share. Please let me know and thank you for your help.

Your photo of this tombstone shows evidence of repair, but since then the stone has broken into 3 pieces. Soon caring Davis descendents who live through the U.S. will have the stone replaced.
We have each visited Mt. Moriah and this grave site. The new stone is designed to closely replicate the orininal. Eventually we will have a photo of the replacement which we will want to share with you.
Thank you for your interest.

not a problem. I didn't see a memorial for Elva, but if you create one, I'd be glad to put the photo there as well

you've probably gotten an email that I added a photo for Ferdinand Brase. You see that he actually has 2 headstone and one is a dual heastone with his wife Elva Love. I didn't see a memorial for Elva, so let me know if you create one and I will add a photo of just that dual headstone to her memorial.

Thank you for the info and picts of McVoy graves in Dresden Cem. I was surprised and delighted to see you had also put grave marker picts of my GRT GRT Grandpa's little sisters they left behind in Dresden before moving to N. California. I really appreciate your kindness. I live in Oregon and doubt I'll ever get back there as much as I's love to retrace the steps back. Good Grave Hunting to you! sincerely Kaaren Crail Vining.

|Joseph Mann||RE: Lillian Davis|
I appreciate your response and your help. It turned out that Lillian Davis was a close friend of my grandmother. I found my grandmothers' diaries which I transcribed, and Vida was mentioned often. Then I found an address book which indicated that Lillian Vida Davis may have been the sister of my grandfather. That is why I looked for her specifically. The first names matched, but there was something that just didn't make sense to me. My namesake was out of Connecticut, and at the time people just didn't move around as much as they do today. I couldn't imagine her moving to Calfiornia.
A little more research showed that my grand aunt was Lillian Mann Ferkel, and is buried in Holyoke, MA. Her headstone is also on facebook.
