Keeney Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Lane Co, OR Mitchell relationship to Keeney
Hi Jim thank you for your hard work and for sharing your cemetery listings.
Re Keeney Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, Lane Co, OR, the Keeney family and Mitchell Families were each early settlers in Lane and Linn Counties. Our family lore says the 3 Jonathan Keeney men in south Oregon in 1860s were cousins to one another. The Oliver and Martha (Green) Mitchell daughter, Margaret Smith Mitchell, married one of these 3 Jonathan Keeney settlers. So Margaret Smith Mitchell was sister to Henry and Oliver Mitchell.
Our Jonathan Keeney was married to Margaret Smith Mitchell Dec 23, 1858, and they lived in Eugene Oregon. Jonathan and Margaret (Mitchell) Keeney moved north to Washington. Our Jonathan Keeney was born Aug 6 1826 in St. Charles Missouri to Michael Keeney and Temperance Piper. -Pam H

RE: Elizabeth Lee (Kruger)
Thank you Jim! Yes, I would think that this information is correct. My cousins, who are direct descendants of Elizabeth know she died in 1961. We had no information on the date other than the year. Thank you for getting the information on her second marriage as well. I guess, none of us even gave thought of her remarrying! Silly, as there was a long span between her first husband's death and hers. I never got to know her, but those who did say she was a very sweet lady.

Her first husband's info is:
George James Lee
Birth 27 Aug 1849 in Tazewell County, Illinois, USA
Death 19 Oct 1930 in Cherry Grove, Washington County, Oregon, USA

I can get info on their children to you later on. There has been so much confusion as to which wife the children go through, in other people's genealogy, it has caused mine to be a mess online. I am in the process of getting that straightened out. It does take time.

His parents are:
James A. Lee
Birth 13 Dec 1805 in Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia USA
Death 28 Mar 1881 in Cherry Grove, Patton Valley, Washington County, Oregon USA

Myrtilda Powell
Birth 1 Jan 1808 in Kentucky, USA
Death 26 May 1854 in Lafayette, Yamhill Co, Oregon, USA

Once I get the right parents to the right children, I will send that on to you as well.

Thank you and have a wonderful day!
Vicki

RE: Elizabeth Lee (Kruger)
Hi Jim. This one will take some research. We show Elizabeth Lee as being Elizabeth Ziegler with her buried in Cherry Grove, Oregon. It could be the same person, but, I have a difficult time thinking she would have died in another state and was shipped to Oregon to be buried. It is not unusual to find various people with the same names. We just show her death date as 1961 without any further information.

Do you have any documentation that can help identify the date and place of her death?

Thank for the reply and all info you have given so far.

Vicki

RE: Elizabeth Lee (Kruger)
Thank you Jim. As time allows, I will get more info for you. I am not sure that Elizabeth left the area after James died. I will check with my cousins, to see if that is the case. I don't remember them talking about her remarrying, but, she sure must have. That is a long time to remain single, especially with a family to raise. They will remember, as they are the ones in the direct line and did visit with her until her death.

Elizabeth Lee (Kruger)
Hi Jim,
By any chance do you know where the name Kruger comes in with Elizabeth Lee? Her maiden name was Zeigler. Did she remarry after James George Lee died in 1930?

Jim, while I am not related to Rebecca except through her husband Robert Ewing Campbell, he is my 2nd great grandfather, I was very excited to see the picture you posted of Rebecca and Gertrude. It was just great to get an insight into what she looked like. I am been researching for more than 40 years and each picture or piece of information that I come across only makes me want to look for more. Thank you so much for posting the picture to Find-a-Grave. Kathy Heath

Hi, Jim,

Yes, you have my permission to use the photograph for that purpose. I am honored that you like it that much.

One of my best friends is married to a Moore, and she has asked me to photograph all of the Moore graves I encounter. I'm glad that some of them have helped you out. Thank you for the information. I will add it to the memorials today.

FYI, your email address did not work; the email bounced back.

McCalmont memorials #35244408 & #70959416
Hello Jim,
Could you please edit/cross reference the Spouse biography fields for the above McCalmont family memorials ? It would probably work out best if Mike McCalmont the creator of his father's new memorial could manage both memorials as he has additional information and photos to add. Thanks, Steve Berg/ Close freind of the family

Thanks for the offer with help for a headstone. My husband is related to a Tewalt by marriage. I probably couldn't apply for a headstone. Thanks again.
