Find a Grave reminder
When you upload your grave photos, first make sure that they are not "chalked" headstone photos! The Find a Grave FAQs clearly state this policy.

What we're looking for are photos of headstones/grave sites depicted as they actually exist...right real life. Also, there are many cemeteries and regions across the country that have laws about altering a headstone. It can be considered vandalism, hence Find a Grave adamantly not endorsing the practice.

Thank you,

Curator of Archives, Find a Grave

John Rose
I'm working on a volume of grave locations for veterans of Co. M, 15th NY Heavy Artillery. Could I have your permission to use the picture you posted of John Rose's grave in this compilation? I will cite you as the source.

Thank you.

The memorial you made for
Wayne William Ferguson

belongs in the already existing cemetery (Poplar Grove Cemetery) at

Can you move him, and delete your cemetery?

Wilhelmus Kuykendall
If you can get a copy of the book "History of the Kuykendall Family" by George Benson Kuykendall, you will find starting on page 152 a very fine biography of Wilhelmus Kuykendall and his wife Jane Gumaer. If you have any questions please e-mail me at

RE: Mary France
Thanks for the correction. I am working with two others in trying to get these Frantz/ Frans/ France folks of T/Crawford, T/Mamakating, T/Shawangunk, and the T/Wawarsing figured out. We've made a lot of headway since collaborating! J

Terwilliger, Alice
Helene, I understand your response regarding the transfer. Please link Alice to her father, Leander 47475610 and mother, Mary 474756714 and add date of birth as 1863. Thank you very much.

Terwilliger Family
Was wondering if you would consider transfering the Terwilliger family, Leander, Mary, Alice to me since they are Great grandparents and daughter Alice, sister of grandmother Minnie. I almost added Alice which would have made a duplicate for her. I saw her parents and then found her but she's not linked to them as her siblings are.

Would appreciate your consideration in this. thank you

RE: Thank you
Dear Helene
Thank you for all the work you have done. Because of your efforts I found the graves of my ancestors in the Chester A Stanton Memorial Cemetery. Bless you.

I was wondering whether you might transfer to me
Jacob Cruver #47259199 and his wife
Elizabeth Walker Cruver #47259276.

I have a lot of information on the Cruvers and Walkers that I would like to add. Also could you please change the orientation of Elizabeth's tombstone so that it is upright instead on the side?

Thanks so much for adding so many Sullivan Co. names.

RE: Burlingham cemetery?
Thank you for your offer to look for the name of a woman buried in Burlingham for my friend. The woman's name is Rachel Brown. Death info from the T/Mamakating Clerk indicates that she died in 1904 and that she's buried in Burlingham, but no cemetery name was given. The friend thinks she may have been too poor to have had a marker placed.

Yours, J

RE: Burlingham cemetery?
Thank you! Someone on the Sullivan County Rootsweb mailing list was asking about a woman who was buried in Burlingham and that cemetery was the only one I knew about. She didn't give the woman's name, though. I'll refer her to your reply.

Burlingham cemetery?
Is this cemetery where you photographed and entered memorials, "Burlingham Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery", the one on the grounds of Indian Lake summer camp? If so, how does one go about getting permission to enter the grounds?

Are there any other cemeteries that you know of in the Burlingham area?

Thank you.

Would it be possible to get the picture of Mary that was done in Chalk, at an upright angle instead of sideways.

Thank you ever so much

Thanks so much for uploading the picture from the Stanton Cemetery. We are unable to tie this family to our tree, so any clues are appreciated. What I know about them is at our Family Reunion Web Site: The link is "Who Is This"

RE: photo of Henry Williams
Helene, thank you for taking the photo. I sent you a separate email with a bit more detail about this Mamakating family. I deleted his original record, and he is now resting in the correctly name cemetery, Chester A. Stanton Memorial Cemetery, as memorial # 49741496. Thanks again.
