Joseph W Muffly 1840-1908

The man at the cemetery did not call and I did some research on my own.
You can find Joseph W Muffly at Find A Grave Memorial# 29902562.

He mustered into the 148th PA Volunteers September 1, 1862. Was promoted to Sargent Major September 8, 1862. Was promoted to Adjutant May 1, 1863. He was discharged on a surgical certification March 28, 1865.

The 1860 Census has him living in Howard, PA with Israel Muffly, 60 and Rebecca Muffly, 23.

The 1870 Census has him in Des Moines Iowa with wife Mary. They have children Earnest and Pearl.

He died December 31, 1908 in The US National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, Battle Mountain Sanitarium, Hot Springs South Dakota.

I see on the Find A Grave memorial that he was born at Cedar Springs PA. The correct location of Cedar Hill Cemetery (Mackeyville) is Cedar Springs.

I didn't see anything about a mattress factory in Howard.

I hope this information is helpful. Have a Good m
Memorial Day.--Storres

RE: Muffly Graves

You are welcome and thank you for acknowledging the photos. I met a local resident at the cemetery who claimed to have some information about a Muffly from Howard who had a mattress factory and was Adjutant of the 148th Pa Volunteers. If he gives me the information I will pass it on to you.--Storres

RE: Goodman Grave
Hi David,
You're welcome. Not sure if that was who you were really looking for. There are at least 2 William Austin Goodman's on Spring Grove's website. But this was the marker for the William Goodman in Section 95 Lot 36 (William Augustus). BTW - I added pics for the entire lot on their memorials.

Your dad was a terrific guy. I loved working with him. he was a plethora of knowledge and just knew the right thing...I learned a bunch of little perks that I used all through out my internship and residency. May he RIP!

RE: Wykoff Memorial
You're quite welcome!

Little Birdie is buried next to Josie M....whose photo I put online this morning. :)

There's another stone on the other side of Little Birdie that isn't listed in the old cemetery listing...Johnie Wyckoff...son of J. & E.

The dates aren't visible because they've been covered up with glue.

I didn't know on which memorial to put his photo.

Take care...

Cornelius Schenck at Raritan
Hi, David. I put up the wrong picture for the older Cornelius Schenck at Raritan. Both stones says Cornelius. If you would put up another request for Cornelius (1830 - 1888), I will go get a picture of his stone, too.

Jacob Aikey

I am working on your photo request for Jacob Aikey 1834-1910, Find A Grave Memorial# 124029962. Can you provide a middle name or initial? I can't distinguish him from his son with the information on the tombstones. Thank you.--Storres

Your Memorial Oaks photo request
You requested a photo of a grave in Memorial Oaks cemetery in Houston, Texas. I went there today and asked them for the location of the grave, but they said they couldn't give me the location because it's against their policy. They only provide grave locations to family members of the deceased.

I would be more than happy to shoot the grave if you would be kind enough to get the location of the grave for me.

I finally got back there to correct my error. They waited patiently, but the shadows had increased. They are under a huge tree. You're welcome, and I'm happy if you are.

RE: Jane Ewing Williams Grave
The Williams family headstones are in a row with the Strang's and Holmes family to one side and the Holmes family on the other. There is enough space between headstones that there could indeed be some headstones now missing. Joy

I still must return and get photos of the markers. WHY this didn't happen yesterday certainly CANNOT be a result of age. No - never that! You're welcome for all. cb

Are you a descendant by chance? If so, I would sure like to fill in your part of the tree--Edith's father was a second cousin of my great-father. Or even if you're not a descendant, perhaps you have a Descendancy for them...
