RE: Blackwell family
I am interested in sharing info on the Blackwell side. However, my husband and I just moved from Miami, FL to Bartlett, TN. I will be overwhelmed with settling in for about a month or so and then I will be back into genealogy.

You're welcome.
Interesting that both death dates begin 11 Apr.
I couldn't find an obit for her in the New Orleans or Baton Rouge newspapers.

Alice Chapman - Woodland Cemetery
We are headed to Kentwood to take pictures on Saturday. I saw your note about Alice Tidwell Chapman's dates.
I see on FamilySearch that they say
1882 - 11 Apr 1938
BUT the Louisiana Archives says
1894 - 11 Apr 1950
agreeing with the Find A Grave memorial page.
http://www.sos.la.gov/HistoricalResources/ResearchHistoricalRecords/LocateHistoricalRecords/Pages/LouisianaDeathRecords.aspx
It will be interesting to see what the stone says.

Hi,
I am sorry I cannot post any obits after 1922 due to copyright laws, Find A Grave does not allow it. If you make a abbreviated version leaving out all living names I can then post it.
Thank you for your patience.
Sincerely
Bushy

RE: Amy Blackwell Leigh
Thanks for your note. I also took pictures of the Leigh gravestones in the vicinity of Amy Blackwell Leigh today. Thought you'd be interested in knowing about them. I'm stunned that some of the gravestones from the early 1800s are still readable! I hope these pictures are helpful for you.
Cheers,
Rhonda

John H. Watson
Cottageville Cmt.--someone has put the wrong photo on your entry. His initials are E.H. The fellow you include was born some 40 yrs later. Maybe they are kin but should have different stones and data: they are different individuals.
Can you remove the other photo and maybe get the correct stone on Find A Grave?
Hoping so!

Div. H is a very large hilly area and there is a good bit of space where there is no headstone but so many of them are worn and weathered and totally unreadable.

RE: Alexander Norwood Photo Request
Am currently surveying the Jackson Cemetery. I've found no tombstone for Alexander Norwood. According to Mary Ann Sageley's East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana Cemetery Inscriptions, there is a Col. Alexander S. Norwood buried in the Major Doughty Cemetery near Felixville, LA and an Alexander Pipes Norwood in Rosehill Cemetery in Clinton, LA.
Sorry for the long delay in responding.

They are buried next to each other in block 4. There are two block 4's and it's the smaller round block 4. I did have a picture of her husband's stone and I uploaded it as well.

Let me look back at my pictures and see if I can figure out which block I was in that day. If Augustus is her husband, I think she's buried next to him. I think I have a picture of his stone as well.

Yes, if you look at the caption I included, it explains how the vault markers work at this cemetery. No individual inscriptions. And I have already added the photo to any Find a Grave memorials available for the others buried in that vault.

I'll see if there is anything concerning Joseph in my notes and let you know.

RE: John Sebrey Burch
"Johnson Plantation" was not, to my understanding, a formal title for the property. Capt Johnson was a "first settler" carving out an area that was swamp. From the records I found located in the Mississippi archives in Jackson, the property was referred to as "Johnson Pl." or "Johnson Farm" or "Frank Johnson Farm", along with the town he founded, the village
of "Johnsonville", once the county seat for Sunflower County.
The area consisted of several thousand acres, homes for slaves, laborers, and family. Included were the facilities needed to shelter, feed, and meet their spiritual and educational needs. This, in my opinion, and I believe, that of the times, is a plantation. It was not a log cabin with a couple hundred acres we would prob now call a farm.

Boyer Cemetery was then called the "Old Johnson Cemetery" .

John Burch sold the property to the Boyers when he left the delta for Webster County after Molly Johnson Burch's death. I know this from the deeds, obits., and from family oral traditions.

I don't remember much about Joseph (Johnson or Burch?) and will look into it.

Thank you for you response and help. I will let you know if I find anything.

Thank you, Andrina, and yes, let's keep in touch.

The only child of John and Mary Lee Burch I don't see is their son Clarence. You had set up his memorial, but I don't see a link off John or Mary's memorial. Is there another way to link a child? I only see links possible for parents and spouses.

Hope you are doing ok.

Blackwells in Dutchess Co.
Sorry for the previous message, or lack of one.
I can across your bio just by accident and was wondering if Samuel Blackwell Schenck # 34007849 could have been a brother to the Lydia you were discussing. I am researching the Wiltse/Wiltsie family and Samuel's daughter Caroline married John Wiltsie. I have not found out were they are buried. Is this any information you might have?
