RE: Dumas
Hi Doug, The book on the Dumas' Family by Freda Payne Dumas is hard to find. Do you know if Freda is still selling them on her own? I have read an sample and would love to own a copy. Thanks so much for telling me about it.

Samuel Thomas Dumas
Hi Doug, Samuel is my 1st cousin 4x removed. His father, Edmund Benjamin Dumas was my 3rd great grand uncle. His father Benjamin Franklin Dumas, was my 4x great grandfather, who's oldest son was Uriah. Uriah was my 3x great grandfather. Uriah's son Thomas William was my 2nd great grandfather. Thomas' son was John Wesley Dumas who was my great grandfather and his son Orris Frank Dumas, Sr. was my grandfather. Any information you would like to share on the Dumas family would be great. I will also share my info.
Thanks, KGR

Roy Lenton Dumas
Doug,

Are you sure that he died in 1907? I can't read the gravestone clearly, and I show him listed with his family in the 1910 and 1920 censuses, plus a possible listing in the 1945 Florida census.

Is this the Obit for your Pearl Dumas? Says she was in Volusia County in 1988 and died at age 92 after moving there 2 years earlier from Orlando. A DeLand funeral home was in charge of arrangements - Lankford, DeLand - perhaps they can tell you where she's buried and then you can find Roy?

Greenwood.
There is a Greenwood Cemetery in Apopka, also. They often get confused.

RE: Greenwood Cemetery
I'm at the cemetery now and there are no residents here with the last name Dumas. On the Taylor cemetery record there is a note that says: "Gladys Paula, niece of Gladys E Taylor called from Tampa on 10-24-80 regarding space for her aunt at time of need"

Sorry I cannot be of more help

RE: Greenwood Cemetery
I'd be happy to help. The cemetery is city-owned, so the records are public and I can search their files any time. I'll go tomorrow!

Samuel Thomas Dumas
Hi Doug,
On Samuel Thomas Dumas Memorial you asked for info about him or his family. I believe that Samuel Thomas' grandparents were Benjamin Franklin Dumas (1783-1853) and Martha Ussery Dumas (1778-1838) and that his father, Edmund Dumas (1810-1882), was a brother to my Uriah Dumas. I have yet to prove this, but I am looking for proof.

I just realized your Aunt was buried in Trussville. I am sure she is related directly to my line because Trussville and Clay are where they are buried in recent generations.

Yes, I am researching the Dumas surname. My mother is a Dumas. There were a few that went back and forth from Texas and Alabama.
I can be reached at gelli58@yahoo.com
