Just wanted to drop you a note to say "thank you" for managing and updating Fed Hughes' page. So many times folks are quick to point out what we've done wrong and not stop to appreciate what we've done well. I appreciate your work here. Thanks again.

Beth Holt
Westmoreland / Williams
Dear Andrew,
I was so thrilled to find this site and the page that contained the info about my great-grandparents and great-greats. William Berryman Williams and Martha Ann Westmoreland Williams were the parents of my grandmother, Winnie Williams Frick. Grandmother would often say, with pride, "Now, Mama was a Westmoreland," so I figured that meant something.

William Berryman Williams was superintendent of the American Spinning mill in Greenville.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

You're very welcome! I live near Augusta but when my sister and I go up to Cherokee, NC we try to pick out two cemeteries that are on the way that need cemetery photos. Flatwood was one of the two this week because it would be quick and because the requests had been there so long. Merry Christmas! :)

Got your message regarding Rita H. Price. I have changed the information and have asked the contributor who put in the news article to remove it. Thanks for getting this straightened out.

Sarah Hoots
Dovie and Streeter Fisher
Hi Andrew! My name is Sarah Hoots. I am the Great Granddaughter of Streeter and Dovie Fisher and the Great Great Granddaughter of Joseph and Laura Garren who are buried at Gillespie Evergreen Cemetery in Brevard, North Carolina. I just wanted to say thank you for the pictures you posted of the markers of my family. You did a wonderful thing by making them public so that the extended family that cannot travel to Brevard to view them in person can now see what they look like. I hope to speak to you either in person or through email. I hope you have a blessed day!!

Johnstons at Westview

The section and lot numbers are wrong. I walked and walked and finally had to call the office. The correct numbers should be Section 39, Lot 705 for all of them. Thanks. I have also sent a message to the current manager of Martha's page.

Hi Andrew

I also have photos for

Mark Graham Johnston 7/12/1888 - 6/10/1947
Jessie Coogler Johnston 6/4/1891 - 11/3/1984

Could you make pages for them and send separate photo requests so I can upload photos?

Also, I have additional different photos for James Gordon Johnston. Would you also place a request for those too.

RE: Ericson
You're welcome!

It was a beautiful day and St. Maria Cemetery was a great one to walk around as it is fairly flat!

Awhile ago we added Veronica Marie (Cuneo) Ericson whom we found in the plot area as well as she wasn't listed on the Find A Grave list for St. Maria.

We usually try to shoot a whole family even if there is not a request then check to see if they are listed on the Find a Grave for that cemetery and whether they have a photo or not.

RE: Sayers
Yes you are correct it is another sayers if you want to make a memorial. The name on it is J.C. Sayers born sep. 10, 1853, and died aug 7 1906. We take photos of others with same name, but fulfill whats been requested first. So if you think their is a connection let me know. I like for familes to be in charge of there family history, but will make memorial if there is not a request. Also my pictures can be used at other sights.

RE: Elgin
Interesting. Look at the death certificate on his memorial 90132750. It does show that he was 92 years old and I know errors are made on death certificates, but father shown is clearly Harrison Elgin. Informant is Lafayette Elgin - his son. We may never know for sure.

RE: Elgin
Yes, this is my husband's family. Hezekiah Elgin who married Nancy Agnes Webb - they are his 3rd great-grandparents. Hezekiah was brother to Harrison and Thomas Elgin, sons of Alexander Elgin. James Elgin's book shows Thomas as the father of Hezekiah C. Elgin, but his death certificate shows Harrison Elgin. Do you know which is correct? Thanks!

Hi Andrew,

I responded to your message the other day, but it got intercepted like maybe I used some bad language or something. This time I'll keep it short.

There's no need for a transfer. You did a very nice job on the memorial.

Maurice Hitt
RE: Matthew family
Hi: I haven't forgotten about the Mathews clan. I have been digging the Florida tribe up. It seems that Alexander Mathews was the one who first came to Florida. He married in 1871 to Frances (Fanny) ____ in South Carolina. They moved to Putman Co., FL by 1885 (state census), and by 1900 they were living in Marion Co., FL. They lived & died there.

Alexander was the son of Daniel & Sarah (Miles unconfirmed). The line goes back to Mussenden Mathews and there stops.

I have the information up on You can just type in Cecil Robert Mathews (his daughter, Crystal Joy married my son, James). Because their still living it will be listed private.
Let me know if you want or need more.

Thank you for your help.

Alva was a wonderful man. He was a devout Christian, very gentle, and could sing very well. He sang in church often. His wife, Sue, was also nice. Of course, Miss Sophie had passed many years before. James had a son, Jimmy, and I am not sure where he is now. Last time I had any contact with him was probably in the late 80s. Bob, the brother of James, was pretty much a ham. He reminded me of Hoss Cartwright on the TV series, Bonanza. Kathleen, James' sister was a nice lady. That was the only time I was around any of the family. The last time I saw James was in Memphis in 1979. I don't know what happened after that.

Dear Andrew, I came across the headstone for James Herman Ealy, who is buried in Arizona but is from Clinton, SC. I have been trying to get an obituary on him without success, although his death is fairly recent. During the 70s we were married, and I happened to look up the social security death index and discovered that he was deceased. I have remarried, and the only reason I was searching was in wondering what happened to him. Pretty shocked to see he was deceased. I was in Clinton in '72 with him when his dad died. Please, if you can give me info on where to get a copy of his obituary, I would appreciate it. Thank you. Ann (middle name)

RE: Matthew family
Yes my daughter (in-law) is from the same family. She descends from Alexander M. Mathews (brother to Pleasant). Her line goes as so: My d-i-l, Crystal, Cecil Robert, b. 1945, Benjamin Barre, b. 1913, Daniel B., b. 1874, Alexander M., b. 1850, Daniel, b. 1825. I'm having a problem with Daniel's wife, Sarah. Was she a Miles? I've looked at trees on ancestry, but no proof on the line previous to Daniel, 1825.

We're going out to the cemetery (Mathews Cemetery in Fairfield, Marion Co., FL) fill out the gaps. Nice to know you cousin-in-law!

Matthew family
I'm am a volunteer (newbie), but am also working on my daughter-in-law family; the Matthews/Mathews. Alexander Mathew & his families came to Marion County, Florida in the 1880's and settled in or near Fairfield. The names are Alexander, Daniel, Benjamin, Robert, etc. Do any of the above names familiar to you. They came from Florence County, SC. Maybe we can help each other.

Thanks for all your work on Findagrave.
