John Tolly
I just found another John Tolly (#150854515) in Vernon County, MO and a son named Andrew Jackson Tolly (#15460292) who was born in Shelby County, IL. Vernon County, MO. is the county south of Bates County where 3rd great-grandpa, Martin White, is buried. I believe the above John Tolly may be the one I'm looking for, but I left a note in both memorial holders to see what they may know.

John Tolly
Hi! I found a document this morning on the internet that mentions a John Tolly in conjunction with my 3rd great-grandfather, Martin White in Lykins/Miami County, KS. I know that Martin's son, William George White married into the Tolly family, but after he died, his wife remarried. Do you happen to know if that John Tolly happened to be of James Tolly's family, either as a brother, cousin, or son? Here's the link to the article = http://www.civilwaronthewesternborder.org/content/tender-service-martin-white
Here's hoping you can tell me who John Tolly is.

Voice of Remembrance
Jan Roorda
Greetings Becky Roorda,
My Name is Shaun Weaver. My father Ted was one of the many beneficiaries of Jan and Rien Roorda's courage and hospitality. They sheltered Ted for two weeks after he was shot down on a bombing mission over Germany during WWII. I have been in touch with Jan's son Koos and his niece Maxine Loopstra. Are you a granddaughter? I'm writing my father's story and of course have a million questions. If you have any interest, here is a link to a blog with some photos you may enjoy.

http://www.the23rdmission.blogspot.com/

I haven't kept it very up to date but there is a link to excerpts from my book and if you scroll down there are photos.

Drop me a line if you like.
Stay Well,
Shaun T. Weaver

RE: Matte Luik
Hi Becky,
Thanks for posting my info, and for your reaction to that. But please accept (or not) also -if you'll have time again after your moving of course- my many, many edits at your Find A Grave profile page, right upper corner (click on "Edits"). Actually, Matte Luik was not the best person to compare with the Loopstras because she was born in the province of Drenthe, which was/is quite exceptionally in the Tijnje area, so she has probably a quite different life history than the Loopstras, who were all born in this -peat digging- area. Can I see your genealogy somewhere on internet? Please reply via p.hakze@upcmail.nl

RE: Memorial # 120363647
I don't recall there being more Nitzes, but it's certainly possible, though I normally photograph all gravestones in any given family plot (it's just easier and more complete that way). I haven't been back to Mt. Washington since the spring, but I'll look for more of the Nitz family the next time that I'm there.

Debbi
wife of Thomas Tindall (bur Lusk Cem)
Just wanted to let you know that at one time there were many gravestones in Lusk Cemetery in Edwardsville, Madison, IL. However, at some point the cemetery was not being cared for and was eventually turned into a small community park by the city. The gravestones were either removed or destroyed by vandalism and the city did not have any records of those buried there. There are just a few ground level markers but over time it wouldn't surprise me to find these had sunk underground or were damaged by the kids who have played in the park over the years. I know the park exited in the early 1980's as I went there and tried to find any gravestone to record it for the cemetery series published by the Madison County (IL) Genealogical Society. It would be my guess that Thomas Tindall's wife is also buried there and most likely in an unmarked grave next to him.

RE: John & Lucinda Campbell
I just wanted you to know, no action required on your part. I've been working with Linda Oliver who created the memorials. The cemetery will be called Goodwin also known as Campbell so it shows up when you search either one.

John & Lucinda Campbell
I have added grave marker pictures for John and Lucinda Campbell's memorials. 138175794 138176777 I love seeing pictures like the ones you have posted. The Find A Grave map location for this cemetery was wrong. I have submitted a correction. I found this cemetery's location using the on-line Tennessee Property Viewer. It is listed as Campbell Cemetery. Linda Oliver told me she has known it as Oliver Cemetery her whole life. I asked Find A Grave to add Campbell Cemetery as an AKA. I also added two other Campbell Cemeteries I found in that area. Just when I think I've found them all I learn about more. I'm always excited to find a new one and to frequently disappointed by the condition they are in. At this time of year you can see grave markers you would never see with leaves on the vegetation.

I obtained this material from the Union Predestinarian Baptist Church and Tolly Cemetery. Flat Branch Twp., Shelby Co, ILLinois. Compiled from church records by Marian Simcox Wooters, Findlay, Illinois, March 1967. Received from Elder Robert Webb, Primitive Baptist Church Archivist and Family History Research Assistance website in Carthage, IL. It doesn't state how these people are related, just that they are members of this particular church.
TOLLY Surname = James Tolly, Sr.; Winny Tolly; Caroline Tolly; Elizabeth Tolly Huhle (d. Dec. 1957); Effie Tolly Allen; Jane Tolly, James Tolly, Jr., Laura Tolly, Lucinda Tolly, Maga E. (Margaret?) Campbell Family
I'm wondering if you have any contact information for the family members who placed the new marker on Isaac Campbell's grave (1766-1832)? I am a direct male descendent of Isaac's older brother Jeremiah(1762-1843) through his son Isaac (1805-1848), his son John (1836-1913), his son William (1869-1944), his son Isam (1892-1979), his son Graham (1924-2006) to his son who is my dad. I would like to talk to any direct male descendants to ask about dna testing for confirmation of the genealogy. I am registered through familytreedna.com and 23andme. I would love to hear from any members of this family.

RE: Slovenians
Hi Becky,
I thought maybe you lived here. No the Slovenian program that they had at the library was about Bojon Town. It was called "Potica, Pints, and Prayers in Ole Bojon Town". My husband's (Ken) cousin and his wife (Joe and Pam Kocman) have worked for 5 years to see this come. Their group became a 501 (C) 3 and got a $30,000 grant and they wrote a book and made a DVD on some of the old bojons and the history of part of bojon town. They worked with some people in Denver and Chicago on it and these people came to the library and told all about how this came to be and the wonderful (Bojon) people they worked with and interviewed for the book. I think you can watch the video online(www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXy1bbBBvZs)

My husband said he is first generation Slovenian because his dad came from Slovenia through Ellis Island, but his grandparents and great grand parents on his mother's side came here from Slovenia and lived in Leadville and Pueblo. Ken's family owned and operated Medved's service station on Mesa and Santa Fe and your husband probably knows where that was.

My nephew Mike Barnett has a blog about Bojon Town its Life in Bojon Town ~ stories from the greatest neighborhood.

Anyway, it would be nice to meet you when you come back here. Keep in touch. Kay Medved

Kambic, kochevar
Thank you for the information on Agelina Kochevar, I think her maiden name is most likely Kambic as there are other kambic's in Leadville. There are no kambley's or kamby's. I will contact you if I find more information. Gretchen

RE: Roselawn Cemetery
Hi Becky, That is interesting that you are working on the Slovenians, because I am too. My husband and his family are Slovenian, and I have known quite a few of the Slovenians that have passed. Did you happen to go to the library when they had the Slovenian program, probably at least a month or more ago? It was really interesting and it was nice to see some that I haven't seen in a long time. Is your heritage Slovenian?
I am fairly new to all of this. Just started in May, mainly to put good information on family memorials. Kay
