Thanks
Thanks for all your hard work, cousin Nancy. Between your site and others I've found many relatives buried here in SC, Leah Carolines siblings and their families. What an adventure finding old graves of relatives.

RE: Homers in St Mary's Cem in Groom TX
Yes I am related, but it isn't a terribly close relationship. Many of the Homers in Groom are descendants of John George Homer and Mary Magdalena Paetzold Homer. I'm descendant from Katherine Caroline Paetzold Acker, who is one of Mary's younger sisters. Their mother, Caroline Reidel Paetzold moved the family to Groom a few years after her husband died at a fairly young age and many of the families have stayed in the Groom area.

Memorial for Glenn D Rhodes buried in Sappington Chapel Cemetery, you say his father is Wilbur Lawson Carter. Could I ask where you got that information? Most of us show his father as Newton D Rhodes.

Thanks,

Del Gran
First James River Norsk Lutheran Cemetery
Nancy, I remember you as very helpful with all the photos you took when I was trying to locate "Clarks" in Texas so I certainly respect your opinion.

To make it easy, the photo in question is also my profile photo and whether you think it is appropriate to use as a Find A Grave cemetery photo for a cemetery that was abandoned and returned to farm land in 1940. The details follow but you may not need.

My great-grandfather, Nikolai Larson #14396933 drowned about 1881 and was buried in a cemetery that was abandoned and became farm land in 1940. His name and 11 others, appear on the WPA list dated Feb 1941 for First James River Norsk Lutheran Cemetery in rural Yankton County, SD.

Due to the lack of a physical or Find A Grave cemetery, another Find A Grave member created memorials in another cemetery with a similar name but in the wrong Township. Recently, I had 11 of these 12 Find A Grave memorials transferred to me and then created a new cemetery on Feb 19 and transferred the 11 memorials to the correct cemetery.

The history on the home page and Nikoli Larson's memorial #14396933 is a "work in progress". It started as an explanation on my great-grandfather's memorial and I am in the process of "cleaning it up" to provide a good history and explanation on the cemetery home page with something to be added to all 11 and maybe the 12th whose descendant I am in touch with who is an Olsberg, Find A Grave member "Corey in Nebraska" with documentation that his great-grandfather was buried beside my great-grandfather.

Here is the problem, I wanted a nice photo for the cemetery home page. I found what I thought was appropriate, licensed the photo, and added a caption for this cemetery. However, Find A Grave is rejecting my photo submission for the cemetery as "inappropriate" and suggests that I submit a photo of the main gate, cemetery sign, monument, etc. Obviously none of these exist, not even sure anyone can locate the cemetery any closer than Jamesville Township. Each township consists of 36 sections, each measuring one square mile or six miles square. So, the "cemetery" is somewhere within a 36 squire mile area.

Sorry to bother you, but I have high regards for your dedication to this effort, and would appreciate your opinion and suggestions.

Oliver Page Blackwell, Sr #75960135 was married to Ethel Carey Moore Blackwell #142089426....but maybe she was cremated..? her name does not come up when searching the 'Groom Cemetery'....however...it does come up on this site as being buried there....http://www.cemeteries-of-tx.com/Wtx/Carson/cemetery/groom.htm so I entered her name ....the right column of this 2nd URL notes 'the relationships'...hope this helps...appreciate your time spent enumerating and posting and TY for being so kind to transfer....!

Got the transfers...I will add what I know. Thanks.

You are a "twin" of a lovely woman I know...she lives in Iowa!

Though I've lost many loved ones early in life, I still find peace at the cemetery along with you. My siblings think I'm nuts for spending time on this... Those of us with the passion understand each other! Ha

Thanks again, and happy 2015.

You're welcome. Be sure to note with the photos, that I have posted them with permission from another researcher. You don't need to attribute to me anything, but should mention her work.

RE: Annie Rice
Dear Nancy,
Thank you for your patience with me while I tried to figure out what the heck I was doing when I wrote that note on Annie Elizajane (Coffee) Rice's memorial back in Dec 2013. I've checked my family tree, which now has over 10,000 people on it after 4 yrs. of daily research and have concluded that I messed up! I should have had a woman with the maiden name of Moore where I had placed Annie Elizajane [Coffee] Rice, instead. So I've deleted the flowers I left and am putting new ones in (since I leave flowers for most people I visit, be they related or not) and am amending my tree; I am just thankful that I hadn't listed her siblings and children, as there were quite a few. I still need to figure out where Mr. Rice enters into things; there are probably two of them, possibly related, maybe not, but will make sure I have the correct Mr. Rice in my family tree before adding his wife, a woman with the maiden name of Eleanor Moore. At this time I'm just confused so have copied it before deleting it as there must be some grain of truth to it, somewhere. Thank you for pointing it out to me so I could delete it, research it, then amend it as the Moores play a large part in my family history. Take Care. With All Sincerity, Kathie L.
