Louisa Braswell
I was wondering if the Louisa Braswell you have is the daughter of Warren David Braswell and Margaret Moore Braswell?

John Jesse Braswell
I just spoke with a John Braswell who had a son David who has passed and a wife Melva Joyce Hoover who recently passed.

Although the birth date is different, I think this is the same man and he has not yet passed.

Send to me at:

I'm not sure what you read. I know I've written several things about Dana and Dot. They were special people. I only wish I'd known them both better and longer. I was amazed to find out a couple of years ago that Dot and I were ever-so-slightly kin through my Taylor family. Funny thing, really. I guess that makes us kin to some degree, though I'm not sure I could make that calculation.

Please keep my family in your prayers following the loss of my uncle Franklin Rogers, who passed away yesterday from cancer. If you have time I would appreciate virtual flowers for his Find A Grave memorial 128627148. I am very blessed to have my friends on this site. Thank you,

I knew your grandfather, Dana, and your grandmother, Dot. I met them in their later years, through odd happenstance. As it turns out, I'm "almost" kin to Dot. He sister, Tinnie Screws, married a kinsman of mine named Ollie Sylvester Petty. Tinny and Sylvester are buried in Rome. I wish I'd have known that when Dot was alive. She'd have gotten a big kick out of it. She was a true live wire. I remember her once telling someone (I think it was my wife, who's from Connecticut) how she was from Rome, GA and that there were lots and lots of Yankees there. She said they were the best neighbors anyone could have. They never cause any trouble, nor even make a sound. Of course, they're all in the cemetery there, having been killed during The War.

Your grandmother never bothered with political correctness. That was the great thing about her. If she though it, she said it. She was great.

Your Grandpa Dana was a great submarine sailor and true to all his shipmates. He did annual reunions for his old crews and they seldom seemed to appreciate it. He never had much, but what he did have he shared with anyone who seemed to need it. He and Dot traveled around in his Lincoln, with the trunk stuffed with photo albums and all kinds of submarine treasures that he hauled around for display. He was also instrumental in establishing the submarine museum in Kings Bay GA. He and I had a few words over that one. He wanted to put all his NARWHAL treasures there, and I objected. The week before he moved into an assisted living facility in Rome he called me up and told me I had one weekend to come up to Rome (I live outside Mobile) and get anything of his that I wanted. I managed to get a NARWHAL shipmate in Atlanta to go up and help Dana sort through all his treasures. I'd seen the inside of his house. It was wall-to-wall submarine artifacts and personal momentos.

I was contacted once by one of your uncles. I don't know, but think it was Jimmy. He lives in Virginia Beach, I think. I know your other uncle lives in Rome. I'd like to contact them again, if for no other reason than to tell them of my connection to Dot.

Thanks for posting the photos of Dot and Dana. I have one of those already in my collection. The one with them in their SUBVETS vests.

on Earl Luther
I found a couple of things on him and would be glad to mail them to you. Where shall I do that? He was in the service, Coast Guard in 1940. They have him on the census twice- once at work on board ship, and again with his family.

Thank You for yur prayers
I just wanted to thank you
For the kindness that you've shown
For being there to support me
In ways you've not known
And for always being there
When I need a listening ear
For praying, and for offering hope
And showing me that you cared.

Just an update..Our aunt was in good spirits yesterday and wanted to go home so they took her home by ambulance. Her organs are shutting down and the bottom half of her lungs have chrytalized so it is just a matter of time. But we draw comfort from knowing that she is ready to go "HOME" and be with god and her husband!
