Guess I should have asked before transferring my Richardsons to you. I have about another 30 or 40 so let me know if you want them or not. I'm pretty much finished with Find A Grave.
Let me know...Robin

Hi there ::waving:: I've just seen you message, and thought the exact same thing(s) when I saw Walker's DC. However, I've spoken with a few people who live in the area to inquire about Old Neck verses Britton Neck Cemeteries and was told that they are one in the same, as some people used to refer to Britton Neck as Old Neck. If you know different then I sure would like to have the location correct. As far as Walker being white, when tracing his lineage, based on the information his son Lester Gauge provided (parents, etc..) there is something strange, as we've found his parents based on the names Lester provided; of Joseph and Mariah Gause, and they definitely were not classified as white on any Census Record I could find. Now I'm not saying there couldn't possibly have been a Walker Gause who is white with parents named Joseph and Mariah, and who had a son name Lester Gause. But what I do think is in error is the race that was placed on Walker's Death Certificate. I've searched everywhere for a Caucasian Gause family who live in Marion County or Gresham, to absolutely no avail. However, if you know of something different, then please share it with me because Walker is not the 1st black person I've seen mistakenly identified. Or Walker very well may have been white with a black wife. It is not as rare as many people would have you to believe.
So, I need a little assistance here with Cemetery identity/location if different, and who the Caucasian Gause family could possibly be living in that specific County, because I couldn't find them. Thanks for your help. Blessings, Sandi :-)

"Not sure which cemetery. His death certificate lists "Brittons Neck Cemetery" as the place of burial but that is not certain."
Usually Find A Grave has a hyperlink between two markers in 2 cemeteries for one person so members won't think it is a duplicated memorial in the wrong cemetery.
The one the doesn't have the body is documented on the memorial by Find A Grave as "cenotaph".
Look at this Find A Grave Memorial# 120163857 to see what I am saying.

About Lila. We keep running into edits needed on memorials and for the past nearly 2 years we've gotten no response when we send her an edit request. I just wondered if you knew her. If she was active on findagrave. Sometimes a contributor can be deceased... just thought you may know.
Marion NC... hmmmm will have to look that up, not sure where that is. I'm in Myrtle

Yes, they were found in Vanceboro.
I have to say, this is very exciting.
After sending the letter this morning, I found that some of the letters went back to june of 1931. Mr. Goude referred to her as a very dear friend at that time.Within a year, he was referring to her as "his love" and "pet". He even spoke of marriage.
I have only read a few, but find them very sweet.
In a few of them, he refers to Grace being sick or unwell. I read in her obit that she died in her forty's.
I assume that her father was deceased at the time the letters were written as he never referred to him. He did refer to her mother having whooping cough in one of the 1931 letters.
He also referred to Graces brother named George and that he had a habit of drinking.
Hopefully, the name of her brother or mothers illness will be helpful.
Any information you can give will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much,

|Donna Daigle||Grace Richardson Goude & G. O. Goude 1939 Love Letters|
Dear Mr. Richardson,
I'm writing to let you know that I have recently found several letters written from G. O. Goude to Grace Richardson.
The letters were written in 1932.
I found them while cleaning out my grandparents attic.
I'm not sure how they got there and the connection to my family. My grandparents have been deceased 10 years and my mother inherited their home. She is the only person that has lived there since and she has stated that she has never seen the letters until recently.
There are several letters and I hope to return them to the Richardson/Goude family.
What puzzles me is the connection to our family and how they were acquired. My grandparents owned a farm and farmhouse in Vanceboro, NC and never mentioned their names or the letters.
The letters were written to "Miss Grace Ricardson, Marion, SC" from "G. O. Goude, Plantersville, SC". There were no street names or numbers on the envelopes.
I was able to find a link to you through researching their names on ancestry.com. This led me to findagrave.com. There I found Mrs. Grace Richardson Goude's Obituary and grave information. It stated that she was from Marion, SC and survived by her husband Mr. G. O. Goude.
My assumption is that they never had children since none were mentioned.
I am very interested in any information that you can give me.
