No problem, Elsa. I was searching for all of your requests, and found nothing. When I stopped looking, I found her. No luck so far on the others, but will keep trying.

You may want to enter Ethel's full birth and death dates. She was born December 14, 1893 in Texas and died January 22, 1970 in California. To verify this you can check the 1900 census where her father is indexed as Fred Staggs. Though it is hard to read, you can see that she was born in December 1893.

Thanks for adding this information.

Thank you so much for volunteering to take this picture. This is the info I got. If you go between 8am-4:30pm they will give you a map. If its another time of day, through the main entrance toward the office building turn right, you will head directly to Section C there will be a sign.

The grave is 85, Tier Row 6 Section C

Thank you
Rena

RE: Canutillo Cemetery
Hi Elsa - All photos are up. I usually enter all the names first when I am working with marker photos and then the photos within a month or two.

From my last trip out there, all photos have been uploaded. But there are other markers I have not photographed yet, so there is a chance I or another volunteer may come across the other requests. Lo siento -- Laurel

RE: Hello
Hi Elsa - I did go out to Canutillo on Christmas Eve. So I have added 124 more names to the cemetery. I am still loading the photos when I get time.

For Evergreen, I only have a few more sections left. So if he is there, he will eventually show up. Keep checking periodically. For men, you may also need to check by mother's maiden name. I have found a lot of men, who on the marker, show their mother's maiden name as the last name. Sometimes I catch it and corect it on the record, sometimes I do not have enough information to go by.

Have a good year!! -- Laurel

RE: Hello
Hi Elsa -- I'm still here and busy as ever. About half way done with Evergreen Alameda now.

Please stop by a memorial I created for the puppy that was living there and was killed by the evil animal control officers before I could save her. The link to her memorial is here:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSvcid=67282&GRid=43933523&

I will head out to Canutillo one more time this winter to try to finish it up, once it is freezing again.

How are you doing post Quinceñera?

My wife and I were out there looking for her maker yesterday but could not find it. We did get the plot information from the office and it is BBL-31B-12. That is in a section I think they call Baby Land. It is all infants and small children. We will look again next time we go out there and if we find it, I will post the picture. The plot info may help you in some way. If I were you I would remove the photo request and repost it with the plot info. People are more apt to grab the request when they have that.

Elsa,
I had previously reported a problem with your request for this photo. I know there is no marker on that stated plot, because my cousin is buried in the plot right next to it. I will check with the office to see if there has been a typo in location or something, but there is no marker next to my cousin. i will keep trying for you. thanks..Jessica

I could not make out what the stone said. It is badly weathered. It is located in the old original part of the cemetery.

Hi Elsa
You claimed a photo request that I submitted, just wondering how it's going. It was for Joseph Henry Tomlinson 'Evergreen'. Think there was a monument erected for him but have heard that it was in an area where there had been alot of vandalising.

Ismael Rosales
Saw you had a photo request for him in Valley View Cemetery that had involved some trouble previously. I'm no longer in the area so can't help fill the request but The Garden City Telegram does have his obituary in their archives. You can see a partial text of it that says he IS buried at Valley View and if you want it, you can buy the full obit from them.

Go here:
http://www.gctelegram.com/archives/
Put Ismael Rosales in the search box. It'll bring up the page and his obit is the fourth one that comes up.

Have you tried contacting the Valley View office yourself and finding the plot info? That can help get your request done.

Good luck.

The office said if you would stop by they can give you a map to verify locations but they do not know if a marker is there or not as they did not start that notation until late in the 80's

Thank You!
Thank You for telling me about Calvary's policy. When I talked to the man on the phone, I asked him for the location of Marcelina Martinez' gravesite so that I can locate her gravesite and take a photo of the tombstone. I even asked him if he could tell me if there was a tombstone, placed on the gravesite.

He took my phone number and said that he would look for the information. He called me back in less than 30 minutes, gave me the location and said that there was a tombstone. He never told me that I wasn't allowed to take a photograph. How odd!

I spoke to my mother today and she informed me that her grandfather was married a second time to a Fortuna Hernandez, who is also buried at the same gravesite location, as his 1st wife, Feliciana Cosme Hernandez (Section: I - Lot # 5630). My mother said that she was too young to remember if there was a gravestone placed on this gravesite for her grandmother, Feliciana.

If You would like to email directly for more information, please feel free to email me at: cdm1014@webtv.net. Please put "Find A Grave" on the subject line! Thank You!

Feliciana (Cosme) Hernandez
Feliciana's gravesite information is:

Evergreen Cemetery

Section: I (like in Ice!)

Lot: 5630

i asked the cemetery staff, if they could tell me if Feliciana has a gravestone. They weren't able to verify it! Please be sure to take Your time and make the trip to the cemetery, when Your in that area of Los Angeles.

Thank You for providing me with Evergreens number. I was able to ask Evergreen for the number to the Calvary Cemetery, where my paternal great-grandmother, Marcelina (Gonzales) Martinez is buried. Calvary was able to tell me that the family placed a gravestone on Marcelina's gravesite, but Evergreen didn't have those type of records. Sorry!

If possible, please email me a jpeg photo attachment of the tombstone for my family tree records. You may send it directly to my email address.

Thank You!

Hickman/Hobgood
I have a picture of Carl Hickman's tombstone. I sent a disposable camera to the cemetery and paid someone to take the picture. I located Pearl Hobgood in a Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California. She is in section 7, site 576. She was moved from one cemetery to another when they found out that she or her husband was a sgt in the WW2. I have called them to see if they would take a picture of the gravesite for me. Thank you for helping me get the pictures I needed to add to my genealogy. janet hickman
