RE: Keisters
Oh, great!!
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GScid=722791
That is the Davis Cemetery in Pendleton County. It's on property owned by my husband. I have been cleaning Keister family burial sites for years. Although I don't believe that my husband is descended from any of the Keister family directly, others in his family were married into the Keister family. The families were very close.

RE: Photos
You're welcome!

Do you know where the Keisters came from?
I was interested in them because we're familiar with the Keisters of Pendleton County, and in studying WV history, I'm interested in where some of the eastern mountain families migrated to if they left Pendleton.

Likewise, the Gums, which are an old family name in Highland County, VA, and the Hills, in Pocahontas Co. Not that I expect they're related to the Keisters.....just interested in seeing those old family names west of the mountains.

I am only "sort of" related to Christian Grandle. I believe he fathered a child by Matilda Derrow, who later married Wilhelm Earman. I have more info, if you like, contact me by email Lsc12147@aol.com.

Behind Meherrin Baptist Church
Hello,

At present time I live in Michigan, and an old man of 68 years. I doubt if I will ever get back to North Carolina again, as I have many physical problems.

I see you at one time were working on the Meherrin Baptist Church cemetery. There should be a road just west of the church, that goes south. Believe the property behind the church now belongs to a surname of Blow, that use to belong to Clifton Liles Brett, way back when, many, many years ago. Clifton Liles Brett, a great grand father married a Mariah Curle, daughter of Jane Curle. The area described is where the two raised their family, and suppose to be a family graveyard there.

While I do not expect you to go trapsing through fields of vegetation, just wondering if you are aware there should be a graveyard on that property for the family of Clifton Liles. I would be sure that the Blow property owners would know if there was a graveyard. Since it is well off the beaten path of traffic, it too must be overgrown beyond belief. The property should be just off the shores of the Meherrin River, or streams running to the river.

Is there a way you could find the Blow family and inquire for me, if there is a family cemetery on their property? Thank you for any thing you may do.

RE: Askew Cemetery
It is called the 'Thomas Edward Askew Cemetery'.
The only directions I have come from 'Gates County Cemetery Records', published by the historical society.
"Located on north side of U.S.13, east of Chowan River Bridge."
I have never actually been there.
There may be other ASKEW family plots located in Gates County.
This was kind of a shock getting your message when I did......I was just looking at a death certificate for G.W. Green (died 1936) in Hertford County and the informant was 'W.M.Vinson' and I was trying to figure out how he was related and then I get the message from a VINSON!!!

Come down past Meherrin Baptist ch. Cross highway, towards Vanns Gin, turn right there, it's up before the old Glenn's Gunshop on your left, in front of a brick house.
Did you send me link to cemetery, I've catalogued so many to be sure which one, I think this is one we are talking about.

I agree with you. The photo looks like her name is Rosann instead of Roxana. I made the change to the memorial. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, and thanks for the photo. Vicki Bullard

Photo request
The Carrigan Cemetery in which you have requested a photo is not on very stable ground for being a cemetery. I would call it marshy. I was there 10 years ago. Some of the stones are in good shape, while others have disappeared or are badly damaged.

Hello,
No, I am not related to Phil and Sarah. I had to find the obituaries to figure out how Sarah and Clara fit in the picture. Since, I had them up online I figured I may as well include them on their memorials. If, you don't wish them on there I can take them down, please just let me know.
