Bobbi Ford Hoidas
Timothy Eugene Ford
Hi, my name is Bobbi Ford Hoidas, I believe I am the daughter (1st born) of Tim Ford. All the information I have is his name and that he lived in Ohio. I am trying to find family members who can tell me something about him. I lived with my mother Irene Friedman Ford until I was 3 years old, I then went to live with my grandmothers 2nd cousin Louis Hoidas and his wife Roseann who ended up adopting me was I turned 13. I have no contact with my biological mother and my grandparents are deceased. I was 15 when he passed away, I have always thought about him and wondered about his family and most likely my half siblings if any. Also I see that there are two more Fords buried in the Baptist Cemetery and I wonder if I am related to them also. Also your last name is Ford, are we related. Through researching, I understand there is a Rev. Roger ford who may have been my dad's brother. Anything you can do to help me will be so much appreciated. Sincerely Bobbi

As far as I know he is not a relative. My great grandmother Lark was a "Ford" before she got
married. I had hopes we were related. Judy

Thanks for transferring George McLarty to me. I won't request transfer of Latham. He's my cousin by marriage, but the man who added him is more closely related.

Thank you for the transfer. Do you know how to get the other one deleted as the contributor is now deceased? Would prefer to up-date your memorial as you were first! Again Thank you for the transfer and all you are doing for Findagrave. Camp Chase must have been a real job. Bobbye Varner

Pvt Phil Shepherd-Camp Chase

Hi, I wrote before, I think! Have found the person that duplicated your memorial to Phil Shepherd at Camp Chase is deceased. Not sure how to get his memorials changed. Phil Shepherd from AL was the husband of a family I am tracing/ researching. Only have an approximate birth date of ca 1880, for Pvt Phil Shepherd but the other memorial and the web site has death date as 30 Jan 1865. Could you please add these dates and link him to his wife, Martha E. Morgan Morgan 24085568. Can't Thank you enough for putting the memorials at Camp Chase on Find A Grave. Thanks too, for your help and all you do at Findagrave. Should you consider transferring to me, my number is 47168703. Bobbye Varner

Darlene, thanks for the photos of the graves at Camp Chase. You show a memorial for one E.D. Garner Tombstone #3. I think this might possibly be a relative. Do you have anything else on the cemetery that might give more information? Or has anyone done any research on the soldiers buried there? Thanks!

thank you Darlene. I appreciate it.

I think of Columbus, GA when I hear Columbus, but you are in Ohio, correct? I live just off of Amelia Island, FL. My cousin, who thought he had the confederate buried at Camp Chase, lives in Jacksonville....that is Jacksonville, FL as there is more then one of those too!!!! I "met" him online after my male first cousin submitted his/our Thompson Y-DNA to Family Tree. We had almost prefect match up to the 37 markers. I have proven my direct Thompson line back one generation more than he has...we don't know who is Noah's father. You may want to visit my great grandfather's memorial: Malachi Thompson, Old Still Cemetery, Nassau County, FL. I am also active in the Amelia Island Genealogy Society and have been published in their quarterly with articles on my Thompson line...Also, been published with Southern Genealogical Exchange in their Quarterly. As for genealogy, joined DAR in 1988 and now have 6 proven patriots, and recently joined the St. Simons Island (GA) Chapter of Colonial Dames of XVIIC. Stay busy!

.....another thought on the subject
What was so funny about this adventure is my cousin's ancestor was Noah Thompson of the FL 7th Reg. His family thought that he had died a Camp Chase but the Noah Thompson buried there was another Noah from the AL 7th Reg. At first they thought the military service was wrong on the grave maker, but I found a Noah in AL in 1860 census from the same place as the 7th Reg. Two guy's with the same name. Our Noah Thompson was taken prisoner and according to documents was released shortly afterward then sadly disappeared from the face of the earth as did his wife and two youngest daughters by 1870.....assuming all died during the war without any documentation.

more on camp chase
So you plan to go back to those memorials and add the DOB, DOD, and other notes from the book you have? That would be wonderful as I was going to try to research each of them individual. I had done that for another researcher as she didn't have it. Thanks for the hard work on this cemetery.

My cousin got me interested in Camp Chase a few months back. If I find any more information for those you have posted, I will do the "edit" email to you. These men need to be remembered.
