Quaker cemetery
There are no headstones. Quakers did not mark the graves (at least up here).
The photo of the Old Burying Ground in Queensbury that is posted at Find a Grave is what anyone looking will find if they visit the actual burial ground.

RE: Phoebe Griffin or Griffen
No, I don't have any information on the spelling change. I have found that some times people would change the spelling of their names when they came to America, and sometimes when the census taken misspelled their name. Linda

RE: Phoebe Griffin or Griffen
Hi, I have 2 Phoebe Griffins listed. The first is Phoebe Griffin born 1746 , New York, and is the daughter of Ezekiel Griffin and Ann Smith. She died in 1838 in Ohio. She was married to Gershom Griffin about 1764, prob. in Bedford, N.Y. The second one is their daughter Phoebe born Apr 28, 1778, married Oct. 4 1795 in Kingston, New York, Daniel Hasbrouck. Hope this helps you. That is all the information I have on them.

James Scharff
NO! This is the 2nd time you have asked this. I will not take the original photo off, that I put on of James Scharff. I will not let you take credit for copying my original photo, editing it in a photo program and putting it back on, so no one catches what you have done. If I get rid of my original photo; Then it gets rid of the evidence, of your wrong doing. My original photo shows proof of you copying editing and re-posting it.

I did however put the original photo on (in a small version) with the woman that is connected to the hand. You need to take yours off. And quit complaining about the photo being Erie. If you don't like it just quit looking at it. Appreciate the photo and show some respect. Your lack of respect of the photo I added to this memorial is not appreciated. Neither is duplicating and re-posting a photo.

RE: Regarding Conrad Scharff
I checked the cemeteries, St. Marys and Hartford, on Monday for Conrad and Charles tombstones. The two cemeteries are very close to each other and a little south, southeast of Hartford, KS.

I found Elizabeth Burkett Scharff in St. Marys right next to Catherine Rose Germann and Anton Germann tombstone.

In Hartford, I found Floyd Scharff, Fred & Ora Scharff, Freddie & Gracie Scharff.

Decided to check at the Emporia Library and the D.A.R. and FHGS Tombstone/Inscription of Lyon County Cemeteries to see if a tombstone/inscription had been recorded. As noted, had no success there.

Sorry there was no success.

FAG Photo Request for Conrad and Charles Scharff

I haven't visited the cemetery itself recently but my wife and some friends are documenting headstones in all the cemeteries in Lyon County for the Flint Hlls Genealogical Society. While I've only taken a few photos myself, I'm with my wife when she is photographing so I have permission to use her photographs.

I thought we might have Conrad's and/or Charles' headstone photo but we don't. I checked for their names on the list for Hartford Cemetery but did not find either one. Then I decided to check Hartford St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery list and found Elizabeth Burkett Scharff (1835 - 1899), wife of Conrad which I see on the Find A Grave site you are aware of her being.

Long story short, were Conrad and Elizabeth buried in seperate cemeteries? I could not find Conrad or Charles Scharff on the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery list.

There is another small town named Neosho Rapids near by Hartford which has a cemetery but the names do not appear in that list either.

This is the link to the Lyon County Cemeteries:

At this point, I don't think a headstone exists but I'm not listing a problem since I haven't made a trip there recently. If you discover something that might give me a better clue as to burial location, I can attempt a photograph. I live about 20 miles away from Hartford.

Also, Hartford, Kansas sits on the county border with Coffey County so maybe one or the other is in Coffey County.

Wishing you the best in your quest.

Hello. I recently went to the East Greenbush cemetery & looked for the tombstones you requested. I did not find the stones you wanted photographed. There are many old stones with their engravings too worn to read. Although the cemetery is well tended there are a few stones that have fallen, face down. There are a couple bases with no upright portion visible. There is also the possibility that I just missed a stone as I walked up & down each row.I did find other Akins but not the ones you listed. I wanted to send this note to let you know your request has not gone unnoticed. I wish I could have found & photographed the stones you requested.

You're right, I had looked for a stone for him earlier and couldn't find one. I thought I would look one last time, and there it was. You can use it for anything you like, I took it for you. Thanks
