RE: #131474169 Mildred Laverne Benton
Thank you for your correction regarding this memorial. Nor sure why I didn't notice the date problems when I linked Otis & Carol. I am unable to contact contributor, Lanie, for more clarification of her research.(no contact info listed on her page). I believe Mildred's maiden name is actually BRYANT but online recs differ on her parents. If you can get more info from Yvonne, I would appreciate any help.
Thanks again,
A. Clark

thank you, Shirley. I appreciate you checking. Betty has gotten me back on tract in doing my family history. She was my uncle's aunt, and is very active in genealogy. No rush, I appreciate all you have done & do for us novices.
Have a great day.

I just now finished it and I had photos for all but one, and am not to sure he is suppose to be buried at Concord. I will have to check into it further. I hope you are enjoying the photos. Teresa and I spent labor day photographing cemeteries, we covered 12 from 8 am to 7 pm. We had a blast, accomplished a lot, and saw parts of our county we had never been to. We were very impressed at how much beauty was in our own backyard. God Bless, Pam

RE: We Are Related To You
I wrote that Syl Cobb m 1). Malinda McKenzie, but I think I also saw a m record where someone with a similar name married someone else. Will have to relook that and see if there is any conflict. Now I know why James and his brother, Leonard came down to Sturgis and visited these people. They were indeed Aunts and Uncles. They were Joseph Marion's brothers & wives. Of course known to Joe for he grew up with them!

Thank you so much for the prompt response. I hope we can stay in touch. s.

RE: We Are Related To You
It appears to me that Bronson/Brunson named his son for his brother, Joseph Marshall. Following is how the McKenzie/Cobbs got north. Nathaniel Sylvester Cobb Sr, married 1). Malinda McKenzie. They moved to Gibson County, TN in the Walnut Grove (or might be called Belews) community. She was a bit older than he. She died and he married 2). younger sister, Sarah Ann. Syl & Sarah Ann are buried at the Walnut Grove Methodist Church cemetery, just around the corner from where they lived. Nathaniel Sylvester Cobb, Syl Jr. married Lockie McCoy and they had two children; Clarence & Violet Bernice. Lockie died when the children were very small. Bernice was taken in by a local neighbor family named Thomas & Nannie Belew. Syl took Clarence and went back to MS, where he later married again 3). Betty ?. They had a younger family. Although Syl came back and visited Bernice, she said he seemed more like an Uncle. The Belews were her family. Now get this: Joseph Marion obviously came when he was young because his sisters came w/Syl. Joe married, moved to MO & had kids. One of those son, James Monroe came back years later to visit and he married Bernice Cobb . He was 12 yrs. older than she. And they are the parents of my husband. I'm damned if I know how all these people are related (lol). But I can see that we are definitely cousins.

We Are Related To You
I am sure. My husband's grandfather was Joseph Marion McKenzie, b in MS to (I think) William Bronson and Aloma (?) McKenzie. They were in the 1860 census and disappear after that. I know there were many spellings. When I read the names of Prisock, Miller and Alice Suber, I recognize them. My husbands father(James) and his 1/2 brother(Leonard) used to talk about them. They came to Sturgis and visited these people.
Joseph left MS and came to Gibson Co, TN with his sister who had m Nathaniel Sylvester Cobb. Joseph m in Gibson Co and subsequently moved to Dunklin Co, Missouri where James & Leonard were born and grew up.
We live in Memphis and my daughter did a lot of work on Beth Eden many years ago. I haven't. But when I started seeing all these names, I just wanted to contact you. I think Joseph's father, William Bronson (I'm fairly sure that is his name) must have had brothers who fathered some of the other McKenzie's of the area. I would be happy to hear from you. Shirley (Cartwright) McKenzie.
