RE: Mount Zion, Ashton
I know where the church in question is located, I photographed the entire cemetery about two months ago and sent the directions to Find-A-Grave that now appear on the front page.

There are actually three Zion Churches in Mason County:

1. The one near Hannan High School:

2. The one on Crab Creek:

3. The one listed as being in Point Pleasant that is closer to Mt. Alto that has so many of the memorials that belong in the Frazier's Bottom/Upland location: WVCPA Link with photos of the church and cemetery:

Photo from 2012:

Therefore, the photos on this page: are wrong. If you click on the photo of the church it says as much.

RE: Mount Zion, Ashton
As far as I know at this time, I am not related to any of the people in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Ashton.

I know, but the only thing that I can do is request an update for the address to be changed to Upland in the forums. The mailing address is Frazier's Bottom as you say, but to change the location to that would be in accurate too as the church is just barely inside the Mason County line, as far as I can tell anyway.

As for the church incorrectly listed as being in Point Pleasant, I left directions on the page on how to get there, but I'm unsure of what town it is actually located in. Unfortunately though, the two pictures on the front page are still incorrect, being that they are of the Frazier's Bottom/Upland location.

Mr. Wright,

Thank you for posting your photo of my grandfather's wife's gravestone.

I was unable to go to her visitation or funeral, so this really means a lot to me.

Thanks again,

Mr. Wright,

I just wanted to thank you for taking and posting the photo of my grandfather's gravestone. I have promised myself that I will get there to see it in person, but work and family commitments have kept me from traveling there.

I wasn't able to go to Granddad's visitation or funeral, so your photo truly touches me.

Thanks, again!

Linda Lewis

Thank you for that additional information. I am hopeful that in the future I will be able to visit the cemetery and knowing that they are close will help in locating them. I am in NC now but make a trip home to Weirton, WV at least once a year. I pass through Beckley, and will find my way to Barboursville. Again, I appreciate your thoughtfulness.

RE: William Ira Ferguson
Thacker is my husband's name. His father, George Washington Thacker, was from Canada, KY. Most of the Thackers in the region descend from one group of Thackers who came down from VA to KY (I think it may still have even been VA then).

Purple Heart Belongs to James F Sneed
Hello there, Sorry to intrude..A woman named Carrie Lynch-Meyers, of Ripley West Virgina, is looking for the correct home for a Purple Heart Medal inscribed to "James F Sneed". Carrie Myers found the medal inside a purse she purchased in a second hand store. I saw a facebook post by Carrie and hope to help her find the medal's home. This search is especially important to Carrie because she is related to Jessica Lynch, former U.S. Soldier and POW in Iraq. You can see a photo (of a man and two young girls) which was found with the medal at:
