Curtis Thornton
Is he in your family? His wifes' name was Lena ______. They lived at one time on Burton St. in Leaksville, NC (now Eden) in Rockigham Co NC.
Curtis was the mailman. They had a huge magnolia tree in their front yard and I used to play under it as a child.

Martin Cemetery
You are probably right. The only thing is I honestly don't know how to do that.

I've always wondered how those things got into Find A Grave.

Could just anybody add them???

Dr. Thornton
I got the instructions to the Martin Cemetery from a book of "Cemetery Records of Rockingham and Stokes Counties". The book was printed back in 1992.

The only "old" house I saw really close to Ayersville Baptist Church was across the road near the cemetery, and it didn't look like a two-story house to me. (Maybe I was wrong.)

I'm sure the cemetery has to be around there somewhere. There are several Martin cemeteries, and my ancestors are in another one--well hidden behind an old house off of the main road.

If that cemetery was there in 1992--I'm sure it's around there somewhere. Maybe that particular house is gone--or maybe I didn't look hard enough.

Dr. Henry H. Thornton
He is supposed to be buried in one of the Martin Family Cemeteries. The one he's in is (or was) supposedly behind a two-story house in the Ayersville community "on the right before reaching Ayersville Baptist Church". They didn't say which direction you would have to be coming from though.

I myself sort of looked for that once, and didn't see what I thought looked right. (I only saw one house nearby and it didn't "appear" to be a two-story house. But I didn't go knocking on any doors.

All I have about his parents was that his father was supposed to be a Thomas Thornton.

Dr. Thornton was married to Charlotte Elizabeth Martin--a daughter of Andrew Jackson and Mazzie Mariah Richardson Martin. I have 6 children listed for them: Thomas Jefferson Thornton; Henry Clay (Harry) Thornton; Andrew Jackson (Andy) Thornton; Sarah Belle Thornton; Alexander Hamilton Thornton; and Hattie E. Thornton.

Hope that helps.
