Hi. I posted photos today, but must apologize. These are really hard to photograph and I have tried several times already. I will keep trying until I get something more readable. Please reply to this message and I will be able to let you know when I am successful! Jenean

Hello Debra - I saw your request and tried to fill it. I am the person who left the message about the cemetery being founded in 1955. Anyway, I can't let it go so I went to the courthouse and had the clerk locate the death information in an old handwritten book. They are both buried in the Holland Cemetery (Hills Cemetery) according to that record. I went to look for them and did not find their stones. I do have pictures of the book information if you would like. Not professionally done, of course, but you are welcome to it. Let me know.

Term or rented graves were common in the Catholic Diocese here. It sounds cruel, but it allowed the family to bury their Catholic loved one in the cemetery when they could not afford to buy a plot. At the end of the term (a number of years) if the family could afford the plot they could buy it. If not the grave was resold. Cavalry has many of these. This practice was abandoned more than 50 years ago. Hope that helps.
The old handwritten records were scanned in the computer and not all the names are correct. Also there were any number of ways to spell names, so it never hurts to call the office to check.

For some reason, my camera failed me today when I took the picture of the grave of Rebecca Debolt. I will return to the Maplewood Cemetery and retake the picture soon. Gale Yocum

Unfortunately, their graves are unmarked. I have attached a picture of the lot to their memorials. Peter Frelinger is marked and Margaret and Clement flank him.

Hi Debra - Brent Hereen and Jerry Ames provided biographical information for the Seaworth family. I don't know their sources. I can send you their e-mail addresses if you need more info.

Hi Debra, no I did not notice any others. We will have to return in the near future since it was difficult finding some others in the snow so I will look then.

I got the two photos but cemetery is tough, some 3 and 4 foot drifts in places. We are going to be stopped until spring. If you want in the spring, request the photo's again so we can get a better shot. Jim

Yes, I am related to Hugh Hodge. He would be my GGG-Grandfather. I am descended through his son--also Hugh Hodge (1843-1908), his son William Edward Hodge (1868-1953) and so forth. Through which line are you related?
If you would like to share lines, photos, documents, etc. please send me an email at

Debra - Finally talked to the Durand cemetery manager today. Let me just say, it was uh.....a challenge, and I will leave it at that. He does not have a death date for John Bratt. Looking at the Winnebago Co Genealogy on line records, there are three John Bratt's - one died 6/2/1928, one on 6/11/1930, and John S. 11/22/1977. Buried in the same plot as John IS Clara ~ I think you said this was his second wife? The cemetery did not have a relationship marked for Clara. There is also a Maynard, son of John and Ethel, so there are 4 burials but only Ethyl has a marker that says MOTHER. The rest are apparently unmarked. I have added Clara and Maynard to Find A Grave. I will post the group picture I have now but when I go back I will get a better picture of the unmarked areas and perhaps get the manager to flag the unmarked graves.

You are welcome. The cemetery is located about an hour from me but my grandparents are buried there so I wanted to get some photos and thought while we are there, see if we could fulfill any requests. I think you were asking about wife Clara? We did not run across a Clara but I plan to call the cemetery office and get a death date of John and I will ask about Clara. Will let you know what I find out.

Honestly, I am not sure. I transcribed a list that someone who walked the cemetery, and I put down what they had. I would ask them, but that was almost 4 years ago that we did MC Cemetery. I can deleted the one if you wish.

Here are the ones you might be looking for: Charles Zawatzke (father) 1850-1934, Gertrude Poliska Zawatzke (mother) 1854-1931 & Leo Zawatzke (brother) 1876-1902. I took pics of all 3 when I was there today.

|Bruce Braaten||Myra Martin Photo|
I was just out and took the photo of Myra & Milton M Martin memorial. I noticed that the dates though do not correspond with what you have for DOD for her. The marker shows May 10, 1869--June 4, 1911. I checked the census for the cemetery and this is the only Myra Martin that shows for burial at Forest Hill. Do you want to check your dates and see if we have the same person here and let me know? If we just have a typo on your dates then I will go ahead and post the photo. Please let me know. Thanks so much.
