I assume you mean John Henry Binkley (1807-1848). He was married to Mary Margaret Walker.

William Mattingly
RE: David Mattingly
Sadly, I am pretty much stuck on what I can find on-line and particularly and what they have on Illinois stinks. Seems like Shelton had more problems than just keeping wives alive. Looks as if all his children died early deaths as well.

Hello Kalyn,
I am heading off tomorrow for a few days, will return this weekend and having some company. Please email me at my "work" address - and when I get back and have a moment (hopefully this weekend) I will write you back.
Thanks for the note... we'll compare what notes I have with you.

RE: Laura Damitz Weigand
My wife's grandmother was a Damitz. Have you seen the book of Ernst Damitz's paintings at the Chicago exhibit? We may have an extra copy or at least could scan and send jpg photos. Send your email address to if you are interested in further collaboration.

He was my GGG Grandfather through his son Hervey. I don't live in Jonesboro anymore but I'll try to find the picture of his grave if possible. Are you looking for any info? If so, please email at acrisp09 @ gmail. Com.

RE: Thomas Cemetery
I'm afraid all I have of Thomas Cemetery is the map. I did photo requests on the memorials and keep hoping someone will go try to find it and see if there's anything left.

My GGGreat grandfather was Robert Bean Thomas (Find A Grave Memorial# 9274007)

William Mattingly
RE: Puzzled
I think I see where the confusion is now. Back to the 1860 census. The S. P. Mattingly is Shelton with his sister Matilda and two of Shelton's daughters. The S. J. Mattingly may also be him and perhaps he was enumerated twice with a lot of mistakes made with the people in his house. The age of the S. J. is wrong of-course but this certainly seems to be the right man. I'll continue with more study and get back with you.

RE: Sarah Emily Berry Thomas Mattingly
I'm interested in trying to find more about this David Mattingly. I know Shelton had a couple of children whose names I don't have and it is likely that Sarah had been married prior to him and maybe Thomas wasn't her maiden name. Any idea who any husbands were?

Sam T
Benjamin Thomas
My name is Sam Thomas, and didn't know my great grandfather's name until just this past weekend.

Interesting. My father was Emmit Thomas son of Guy Thomas who was the son of Benjamin I believe. I may be wrong about Benjamin, if so correct me.

Thanks for putting this up on this site or I would not have been able to even find where he was.

Best regards,

-Sam Thomas
