photo you posted
Memorial# 16540343 is W.S. Parks in Parks Cemetery in Wells, Cherokee Co, TX ... you are credited with posting this photo. Can you please tell me, did you personally go to THIS cemetery and take that photo? I ask because that marker is not in that cemetery at this time. Several of us have been there in recent weeks and we have not ever seen that marker. The background in the photo does not look like this cemetery either.

I am trying to figure out where some missing names belong, and others need to be moved to. There is/was 2 Parks cemeteries in Cherokee Co at one time some years ago. I'm just wondering IF the burials in the old cemetery were moved into this Parks Cemetery at some point in time? Or perhaps just their tombstones were moved is why some are there but others are not?

If you can tell me where you were when you took the photo of W.S. Parks (your location to nearest town, community, and especially a highway) it will help identify which cemetery this is supposed to be.

Any info would be most helpful, thanks!

Corp Warren T Nobles
Hi! Saw you had taken a photo of his grave. His birthday however was May 31 1841, not May 13, 1831 which is listed on his page. Also his father is listed on Find A Grave under the name Dr Warren Nobles. He is buried in Montgomery Old Cemetery.

Goerge,

I am looking for a tombstone in Possum Walk Cemetery. I see that you visited the Bath Cemetery and I feel that they may be the same cemetery. Do you know if this is true?
I am looking for the tombstone of a John Berry Hill born abt 1 Apr 1827 in Georgia and died abt 28 Feb 1920 in Texas. I am told he is buried in the Possum Walk Cemetery. Anyhow if you know anything that would be great. IF not thank you so much for your time.

Paul Liles
Hill Family
Hi George,

The picture is an original. It belong to my grandmother, Sibyl Agnes(Hill) Liles. She was the daughter of Jesse and Francis Mariam (Justice) Hill. Jesse was the son of Jesse and Louisa Elizabeth (Rozelle) Hill.

Don Cameron, a distant cousin, has very good information on the Hill families and you can see it here: http://www.thecameronfamily.org/pages/FamTree/LutherHill.pdf

Jesse and Louisa (Betsy) moved to Texas from Alabama in 1845. Along with them came Betsy's parents, James and Rebecca Rozelle. They settled around an area called Bowles Creek. The Hill homestead was around until if I remember right, until the mid 1980's. It was torn down at some point by whoever owned the land. I never got pictures of it though. Grandma would took me to it a couple of times. Jesse Sr was a founder and original trustee of Shiloh Methodist Church. The church was founded in 1854 then discontinued in 1954. The original church building was re-built in 1912. An act of arson destroyed that building in the 1990's. Jesse and Jesse were both Masons. Jesse and Betsy Hill and Jesse and Francis Hill are buried at Shiloh cemetery. So are Betsy's parents.

I will scan more pictures that I have and share them with you as I get time to do so.

Be sure and check out Don's site and you can get a lot more information on the family tree.

take care,

Paul Liles
