Moses Bitney
I am building a virtual cemetery for the 20th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry & I have a Moses Bitney that was in Company I. My records shot that he enlisted 13-Aug-1862 from Millville, WI & was discharged 27-Feb-1863 for wounds received at Prairie Grove, AR 07-Dec-1862.
I am wondering if your Moses Bitney buried at Lodi is the same man. If he is I will add him to my virtual cemetery.

Thanks for your time.

RE: Hall Brother's at Stone's River
Km:

Thank you so much. This research is in regard to updating my family tree as well as a book I am writing. It involves 14 ancestors that fought in the war, John Hall{44th Illinois} was married to my Great-Great Aunt, Emeline Wilson. Her brother John R. Wilson
{35th Illinois} fought alongside the Hall brothers at the Battle of Stones River.
I am also looking for pictures with very little success.

Thank you again!

John C. Hall and Joshua Hall
Kim:

I am currently doing research on several men who fought at Stones River in Dec. 1862-Jan.1863.
Two of which are John C. Hall and his brother Joshua. Both were killed on Dec. 31st as a result of gunshots wounds to the head.[Arkansas Historical Quarterly. Vol. VI. Winter, 1947, No. 4] This research pertains to my family tree and possible publication.

You mentioned that they were killed in the initial Confederate attack. I any other info you may have would be helpful.

Hello Kim
Took the picture today and noticed that the spelling is incorrect. The birth and death dates are the same thus my conclusion of the spelling.
I only took the picture because my wife maiden name is Hering but don't know if their is a connection.

Thanks
Bill

The information that is published for Tranquility
Cemetery comes from the existing tombstones, certainly no paper work from the days of 1850. Thomas Sr. has no tombstone that has survived!
I believe the gentleman's information that was sent to me as he is a direct descendant. After all, some families have recorded information for the various generations, particularly in the family Bible that every home usually possessed.
Are you still not willing to link son to Dad?
I feel that without that link that the family is incomplete for others who might be interested in all of this.
Please reconsider.
George

Yes, I realize that the Thomas listed in Tranquility was NOT the father because of the age.
Confirmation of date and location came from a descendant who had inherited family genealogy.
There is no remaining stone for Thomas Sr. It was after his death that the wife remarried to a Dutcher (a local family whose name also appears in the cemetery) and went to Michigan where some of the children were located. It was from the descendants info that I also learned of Eleanor Fowler that was added this week.

Murray L. Pike
I recently found the burial location for Murray's father, Thomas Pike, with date and location.
Please check this out through Murray's mother who is now linked to her husband.
Please reconsider your previous decision.

Can you please tell me why you won't allow
Murray L. Pike to be linked to his father??

Kim cannot remember if I asked before this. Do you have any objections to me copying your photos of their headstone as they are my 3rd great Aunt and Uncle.

Hi there. Thank you for the edits. I accepted all the edits except for one, the middle name; I did add this information to Harry's bio section. This helps in preventing duplicates from being created especially since there are no initials on the marker. Hope you understand. I did note that his son does have an middle initial "P" however, there is no photo of the marker to prove this. Maybe his name is "Pearl," too? Thanks for all that you do. Cheers and Happy Holidays! :)

My ancestors are from the Devon/Somerset border, which I'm in the process of visiting and taking photo's of. Some of the graves are in need of much ground work - being completely overgrown with ivy and moss etc. Would you mind transferring some of the memorials - very few might have had headstones and some have been re-interred.

Regards

Janice

Hi Kim. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. I'm just following up on an exchange we had back in August. I've been doing some more research lately and would be interested on anything you may have on Mary/Mollie Goff. And I'm happy to share anything I have. Take care. -Marilyn

I found on the site for Belmont County OhArchives Cemeteries - Morristown Union - B. M. Loper! He's definitely at Union and not Pioneer!

Thank you, and I'll check all the photos we took on Sunday. We tried to take a picture of every legible marker. A lot of them were in really bad shape. I'd love to add a picture of his marker to your site!

I don't mean to be a pest, but did your source actually name Pioneer Cemetery or just that he was buried in Morristown? I've noticed a lot of obits and death certificates say "Morristown" and for some reason people assume that the cemetery is Pioneer. Usually, it's actually Morristown's Union Cemetery.

How did you determine that B. M. Loper was buried at Morristown's Pioneer Cemetery? My husband and I were at Pioneer on Sunday and there was no marker for B. M. Loper. In fact, there was no markers for burials beyond the mid 1800's. Is it possible that B. M. Loper is actually buried at Morristown's Union Cemetery?

Ha ha I know what that is like, when you go off in a direction that you hadn't intended . . . but the more you find, the more you want to keep looking for more. Maybe you'll find him someday. Good luck!

Best regards,

I'm trying to respond to quickly, I guess. I see now that one edit is for the husband and one is her father.

I'll get it right, eventually! Thanks for your patience.
