Viola Arnett memorial #34297057
Hello Cookie (Karen);
I have been in correspondence with Angie Hetherington, who took the grave marker photo for
your memorial #34297057 for Viola Arnett.

Angie mentioned that you had original paperwork for this cemetery. From the photo, it looks like her birth date is shown as June 21, and you have listed her birth year as 1893. I cannot read anymore of the marker, because it is buried in the ground, but you have a death year of 1895 on her memorial. By any chance does your original paperwork mention a day or month of death also for Viola? I think the inscription on the marker says "daughter of A. W. and M. Arnett", and this would fit her parents, Albert W. and Maggie (Smith) Arnett.

Does your paperwork mention any other Arnetts, McClures or Smiths that might have been buried there besides Viola and Rosa Arnett? Any names or dates would be helpful in trying to confirm some family relationships and also break through some 'brick walls' in our genealogical research!

I have also submitted links for Viola's parents through the 'edit' feature. Rosa E. Arnett is also a relative, and the 'wife of W.S." refers to her husband, Will (William) Samuel Arnett. The W. A. Arnett you mention on her memorial is her son. I can give you dates from family research on both if you need the information.

Thanks again for all your time and effort, and for creating these family memorials! Wishing you healing and health as well.

Thank you again,
Lezlie Clemons (acybersleuth)

Cherry Tree / Chuliop
I wanted to let you know they finally merged Cherry Tree and Chulio. You will notice some activity as I am deleting some of mine and sending you the information I had via edits, so the information on both can be preserved. They apparently just merged the cemeteries and not the individuals.

RE: Wayne West

My Turkey assignment was to Ankara in 66/67 and then Incirlik in 83/84. Wasn't assigned to Randolph but went there TDY to write the SKT promotion test for our career field. That was in 1980 IIRC. Was stationed at the School of Health Care Sciences at Sheppard in Tex from 74 to 78.

Your dad sounded like a tough guy. Hope he didn't suffer much.

Sorry to hear about your dad. He looks familiar and wonder if we may have been stationed together. I was in medical logistics and stationed in NC, Turkey, OKC, England, CA, TX, NE, and Turkey again before I retired.

ID Military in Westlawn-Hillcrest
We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge #326.

If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.

Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

If you have already received this message, please accept our apologies for the duplicate message.

RE: Thomas G. Pierce
You didn't do a memorial for him. But you did one for the Wilkersons. And Thomas Pierce is listed as living with them on the 1900 census. I was just wondering if you were related to the Wilkersons in some way.

Barely. There is one of those highway signs they have in OK, which points out that there is a cemetery that way > . I think it might be about a quarter of a mile W off of 59.

RE: Chulio/Cherry Tree
Thank you for your reply. I think we can get it fixed. I'm willing. Let's all just sit a bit. In the meanwhile...

I will send a message to Find A Grave and find out what we need to do to get a "merge" done. That way everyone's info they have entered, hopefully should be able to be preserved.

I should have went to the library first, but I was out driving back from a trip to Texas and I cut off on 59N, and saw this cemetery and stopped and took a bunch of pictures. There is no Chulio in the book, I found out of course, later, only Cherry Tree. I am told there are many, many cemeteries that are duplicated, so I think that this is something they need to work on from their end. I think it has something to do with the fact that Cherry Tree doesn't really tell a person where the cemetery is located at. Chulio is the name of that little community there, so presumably people might recognize that name better? Perhaps, I really don't know how they ended up with two cemeteries with the same people. I look forward to trying to reach a resolution on it.

RE: Chulio/Cherry Tree Cemetery
Well, good morning. Nice to "meet" you.

I had nothing to do with the naming of the cemeteries. Whomever first put something in on Find A Grave either selected a cemetery that was extant, or had to create a new one. I don't know that I appreciate your accusatory tone, either, first thing in the morning. I didn't see those people listed in Chulio, after I took pictures, which I took a lot of, by the way, so I added them. At the time I took the photos, I had not been to the library yet to look at Tyner's books to see what it had.
My guess is that 40 years ago, most people called it Cherry Tree and that is how they listed it in the book. Someone on Find A Grave came along and called it Chulio, it would appear. Maybe we need to ream them out.

I have problems with people taking such "ownership" on here, and I'm guessing 90% of the people I send SACs to, ignore them. I have over 600 pending now, so I don't care to hear about making requests to people to change things. They typically don't want to.
All that being said, and not taking into account that what Find A Grave needs to do, IMO, is to merge the two cemeteries into one (and who would agree on a name) I guess I would consider a fix from the contributor's end. What specifically did you want me to do, and are you going to put any additional information that exists on "mine" over onto "yours?" I have plot numbers, additional information I have added, recognition for military veterans and so on. Am I to let all that fall away now because you would prefer they be listed in Cherry Tree? Have you sent similar messages to all the other people who have posted memorials in Chulio, so they can be under the same directive?

I'm willing to try to negotiate a solution.
