|GeorgiaCA||Bahamas The Steer|
Just had to do a memorial page for Bahamas. I will do some more work on it later.

I just looked back at an old message, it tells of that quake being in 1965. Now - soon to be 50 years ago!
We also just had the 50th anniversary of our "Thousand Year Flood" that took out all the bridges. The boys from Fort Lewis formed a volunteer group that operated a ferry to cross the Klamath River, bringing in supplies, etc.
I just read a book called, Beloved Was Bahamas. It is the true story of a very tame pet steer, who was carried away from Klamath Glen, washed down the Klamath River into the ocean, clinging to debris, and was found 3 days later in Crescent City Harbor, 30 miles away, by a group of fishermen. Bahamas nearly died from pneumonia, no large animal vet available, as the vet was stuck at Smith River. Those fisherman helped him to a nearby shed and worked in 24 hour shifts to save him. The state of California purchased Bahamas from his family and gave him a forever home in a pasture under the Klamath Bridge, where he lived out his life, and died of old age. If you find the book, it is well worth reading. Of course the story has much more to it. :)

Hi John, did you feel our recent earthquake? When I think of earthquakes, I remember the worst, and longest shaker, I ever experienced, right there in Tacoma - early 1960's. Newscasters talked of the Space Needle swaying!

Ooooh...I think you and my husband would have some meaningful conversations. History repeats, over & over. I fear for the future of my two grandsons. :(
I much rather read about Clarissa Harlowe "Clara" Barton, F*A*G* memorial #63. :)

Thank You for your note to me about the catnip. I never was one for anything except Fancy Feast but enjoy it. You have a great MOM. Send lots of notes. I like to know what every kitty is doing here on the bridge.

|Clerget Rotary||RE: En l'aire mon enfants!|
Hi, LOL! on comment. Oberursel's were German versions of Gnome Rotaries. Some say they were better than the actual Gnomes. In WW1 the Germans were running out of metal and spare parts to keep the 'Obes going. So they started scrapping parts and engines off of shot down French & German planes. Clergets were wholly British as used in the Sopwith family of fighters. Peace, Blessings.

You're most welcome, dear John. Saint-Exupéry is one of my favorites and his 'Wind, Sand and Stars' is chocked full of such beautiful tidbits of wisdom and sage advice. I'm so pleased you recognized that line.
Much love and many huggles, Suse

I have been to Tacoma twice. I was there in April 1965 during your earthquake. I remember watching the news afterwards and the newscasters telling of the Space Needle in Seattle swaying. Oh my - that was 48 years ago!
