Rodney Dillon Jr.
Dodge & Lynde
Hi June Bug,
Sorry it's taken me so long to answer your GenForum post--it's a long story, but at least I found you.
Many thanks for the info. you sent. I had much of the same info., except for one very important piece--that Adelia Lynde was a Dodge too! I had her maiden name as Crouch, but that must have been a first married name?
I am a direct descendant of Benjamin Lawrence, who was almost certainly Eunice (Lawrence) Dodge's brother. In 1802 Eunice gave a mortgage for $400 on 1.5 acres in Claremont to Benjamin. I think I know who their parents were, but have yet to document it.
I think John Dodge died about 1855 and Eunice about 1861. The old listing on Findagrave had their graves as that of children, aged 7 and 3. Those old stones were nearly illegible, though, and I believe those age numbers were probably 87 and 93. That would fit in the date range we have.
Edwin, whose descendants you are tracing, I have as son of Lucy Heald. Interesting, since my Mom's sister married a Heald and I have Heald cousins in Ohio. Their family was originally from Mass., I believe.
Denny and Eunice's son, John Dodge Lynde, did live in Philadelphia. He was quite an inventor, and developed one of the first aerosol dispensers. His 1862 patent is witnessed by his father, Denny. John died Nov. 28, 1911 in Haddonfield, N.J., according to his obit. in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
I hope this is helpful and look forward to exchanging additional info.
Regards,
Rodney Dillon

thanks for bringing the duplicate entries of these to my attention; the ones I maintain are the original ones and are in the right cemetery; the other entry holder had the entries located in Grayson County

Dorothy Spurgeon headstone picture
Thank you for taking the picture of Dorothy Spurgeons headstone at Shipman Cemetery. It is a very nice picture and adds so much to the memorial. I see that you also took the time to create a memorial for Dorothy's husband Colonel Spurgeon. That was very thoughtful of you. We are blessed to have volunteers like you who are interested in preserving family history. Thanks again and keep up the good work!

James Henry Stout, Memorial #108773194
I am the daughter of James Henry Stout and Mildred McLeod Stout, buried in the Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Duval County, Florida. I was just "surfing" this morning and was looking at my Mom and Dad's Find a Grave sites. A couple of things on my Dad's site are incorrect. First of all, his date of birth was July 8, 1920, and he was born in Johnson County, Texas, not Georgia. I would appreciate it if you would correct these errors for future researchers. Thank you for doing what you do.

It indeed was a great research day!, Thank You Very Much!

This is just awesome. I had no information on a second marriage for Flora so it now gives a whole new name to pursue. I will try to get her obit.

RE: Tyler & Grace Wilder
That is great news. I will be looking for your email. Flora Carter Wlider's father Nelson V Carter is a brother to my great grandmother Louisa Angeline Carter Burnett. I have had a tough time tracing Nelson, his wife Bettie Collins Carter and their 7 children. Nelson was born in Claiborne County, TN. Left for Lee County, VA around 1900 and settled in Wise County, VA.
Great meeting you too.

RE: Deleted duplicate # 125054862
Duplicates happen, it's how they are handled. I've had some folks get nasty and others are very kind. I try to catch duplicates in all of the cemeteries I take photos of grave sites, no matter who posted them.

Have a great day.

Thanks, Jane

Freddy Brown
Priscilla Brown mar. Thomas Ashley
I can't add much to the discussion of this marriage in Montgomery County, Va. Nor do I know why Thomas Ashley was buried in Allen County, Ky where I currently live. My Brown family migrated from Bedford Co., Va to Montgomery County, Va by 1799 then to Russell County, Va by 1804, then to Sumner County, TN by 1809. Sumner County is the south bordering county to Allen County, Ky where Thomas Ashley is buried. Bath County, Ky is not near Allen. It would only help me to know Priscilla Brown's father. I also don't understand why her mother was listed as Susannah Short unless the was first married to a Brown (Priscilla's father) then she married a Short. Go figure!! Thanks for any input you have and for what you already sent. I'll make note of it for later reference.
Thanks
Freddy Brown.
