Ryan; Thanks for the photo correction. Originally
it was in the correct cemetery and I was told it was wrong. But--the photo says it all.
Also, I looked up the obit for King Tubbs and it still has Walker Cemetery- so thanks to Oliver for taking that photo and I deleted him from Walker cemetery. Keep up the good work with the photos.
Thanks, again.

Hello, regarding King Tubbs - The record I entered is based on the gravestone I photographed at Oak Hill. I can add the photo to the record if you would like. I have never been to the Walker Memory Gardens cemetery.

Thank you for advising there is a duplicate for the above. I have contacted the creator of the one I have to combine with the other as this is a relative of ours. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Dear Ryan,
I live in California and have traveled back to Jasper several times looking for my great grandfathers grave site. I was delighted to see you listed it! Thanks you so much. I will be back in June and will visit it and try to read what all it says on the stone.
Thanks, Mike Moore

Thank You!
Mr. Dupree,

I can't thank you enough for taking the time to photograph and post the high-resolution photograph for the gravestone of my GGGGrandmother, Artie Jane Dobbs, out at Flatwoods Cemetery. Before your photo, I was only guessing at her burial site upon the recollection of an ancient relative. Again, Many Thanks! - JP

RE: George Baughn - New Flatwoods Cemetery
Please forgive me...I should have checked more closely. Liberty Grove - New Flatwoods are the same cemetery. If memory serves me well there is another George Baughn at Old Flatwoods...it has been several years since I was there. Appreciate your efforts greatly.

RE: George Baughn - New Flatwoods Cemetery
There are several George Baughn graves...there is G P Baughn at Liberty Grove, and George Baughn at New Flatwoods, who I believe is the father of the former. It is my thinking the G P Baughn buried at Liberty Grove was the husband of Nancy Cagle and then Elizabeth Miller. Elizabeth's parents are buried at Liberty. I would appreciate your thoughts.

Liberty Grove Cemetery...
Would you have any knowledge as to who to contact at the church about the cemetery records...oral history has said that George Baughn's 2nd wife, Elizabeth Miller, is buried beside George...her parent's are buried in that cemetery. Over the years I have not been able to find her grave and I've made several attempts to find someone associated with the church to no avail. I would like to have someone check the actual church records to see if Elizabeth's grave is recorded. Thanks. Ron Baughn

? Liberty Grove vs. New Flatwoods
I do ...thank you for all your hard work in walking these cemeteries.
I know elements are a CHALLENGE!! Weather. Snakes. Difficult to read grave markers. Etc. Etc.

Thank you again for ALL that you do.
Most sincerely,
Judy

RE: Merge complete

Hey Ryan Dupree
I just checked on Find A Grave ....the cemetery where my cousin Belton B. Nix Memorial # 22306513 and NOTHING had been up-dated.

I also contacted Gene Gravlee to see the name on his official Cemetery map for Walker County and Gene wrote:
New Flatwoods Cemetery.
The name of the church is Liberty Grove Primitive Church.
Often, the name of the cemetery and the name for the church are not the same.

Personally I'd like see ONLY ONE(!) cemetery posted on website with Findagrave, keeping the cemetery name consistent (New Flatwoods Cemetery).

I know Gene has documented using GPS co-ordinates over 500(!) cemeteries in Walker County alone. Years ago somebody (and his name now I can't remember) published a cemetery book for Walker County, designating each cemetery by a number (I believe there were about 250 cemeteries listed in that original book. While being consistent, Gene recorded his cemetery documentation, continuing the same previously used numbering system designated for each cemetery by that original author.

Thus, this cemetery has NEVER been known as Liberty Grove church cemetery.
As best as I understand, Death Certificates list it as
New Flatwoods Cemetery.

This issue by Findagrave allowing multiple names for ONE cemetery is creating a HOLY MESS!
The old Jones Cemetery in Walker County someone recently changed the name to Tubbs-Windham.
The Keeton cemetery on AL 124 was changed to Self cemetery.

My own gr-great grandfather Whitman C. PAIR (b. 1823) is buried in Henry County, Georgia Memorial# 31945812 in Hudson-Pair-Steele cemetery.
On Find A Grave recently a new-comer renamed this cemetery to "Steele Cemetery" and re-entered all buried there ....in addition, Whit also been given a second(!!) Memorial (31113540).

My point being...
THERE IS NO LIBERTY GROVE Cemetery in Walker County!!!

Thomas N. HARBIN
The Memorial# 136768339 for Thomas N. Harbin I submitted buried Liberty Grove Cemetery, Nauvoo, Walker County you listed as being a DUPLICATE.

The problem as best as I understand is this cemetery is being posted on Find A Grave under two separate Names -- Liberty Grove Cemetery AND(!)
New Flatwoods Cemetery.

Initially established on Find A Grave under the name of Liberty Grove Cemetery though the locals know of this cemetery as being New Flatwoods.

This issue of having DUPLICATES will CONTINUE until such time as this cemetery's name is clarified.

Personally, I detest DUPLICATES. All of my kinfolk back to 1812 are buried at Flatwoods and Liberty Grove Cemetery/New Flatwoods.

Thus? My question is: Is Thomas N. Harbin buried Liberty Grove or New Flawoods??
Only then can we determine which is the duplicate?

Thank you for the information and for the link to the Old Prospect Methodist Church cemetery which has 221 interments with Find A Grave memorials. The cemetery that Mr. Woods' memorial shows is called Old Prospect Methodist Church cemetery and has 221 interments listed with Find A Grave memorials. So I am unclear as to how he is listed in the wrong cemetery.
