Tillie LeMar
Thank you so much for the picture of Tillie LeMar's headstone! We were in Portland a few years ago, but did not know then where she was buried. I really appreciate your help! Barb J.

I would like to thank you for investigating through debris and organic cover under that large fir tree looking for Estellas' marker.
Being such an old resting place, it seems that time and weather may have caused 7 markers to disappear. Thank you again for searching.

On another note. A Great Uncle passed away in the Portland area back in 1961

If you are willing to check your sources and maybe find and create a Find A Grave burial site that would be wonderful. I have come to a road block for a burial site. I understand completely if you are too busy, or if this is something that can not be done easily.

Than you again for this great service you do for families of passed loved ones.

Mary (Stubbs) Atkinson
Many thanks for the excellent photography. Here's a good example that highlights the unreliability of some cemetery records. The family takes it for granted that Mary is buried there; after all, they left floral tributes on the grave for many years on Memorial Day. The records appear to support this. But what to do when definitive proof is lacking? There's really nowhere else to turn, unfortunately. As you suggest, I will ask Lone Fir to do a Lot/Plot search and see what comes up. The original cemetery records were lost or destroyed (perhaps intentionally) during a period of mismanagement in the 1920's, prior to Multnomah County's assumption of responsibility for the cemetery. The current lists were largely compiled from cobbled-together resources after the period of mismanagement. They are, therefore, by no means complete nor accurate. What a pity that such a gorgeous and historic burial ground should suffer such an indignity.

RE: Craycraft in Lone Fir
Hi Linda

I don't currently have my genealogy program on my pc because of computer problems. (I have a lot of Cracraft, Craycraft, Craycroft, Cracroft, Crecraft info because they are connected) I don't know of this family, but maybe a search online would give you something firm. I lean toward the idea that they are closely connected because of the proximity of the headstones to each other. Mercy, I love a puzzle!

accompany to Lone Fir?
Hi Linda -- I am wondering if you would be open to a tag-along on your next visit to photograph graves at Lone Fir? I would love to get insights on the process -- I am new to the idea of contributing here. I have a family connection to Lone Fir, and have visited quite a number of times. If not, no problem at all! But I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Bill read the information in an old brochure he found in the county building that was on site before demolition in 2002. I'm slowly adding to the memorial as I find references in the Historical Oregonian. Where did you find the 1862 date?

Thanks for the information. I don't know why someone added him to that cemetery when there seems to be no proof he was buried there.

Thanks, I was sort of hoping you would. Be a shame to waste good photos. I'm working a-z, so it could be a couple of days before I get to the others. I hope there were others. My memory says there are, but it's not always the most reliable :D
