Shelby County Cemeteries
Linda,
I understand your list is Shelby County only. If I come across one of my family members that I think may be buried in Shelby county I will let you know.
I Really do appreciate you offering to help me find
my family.
God Bless,
John L. Cowherd Jr.

Cowherd Family
Hi Linda,
Most of my family are from Kentucky.
Shelby, Green, Taylor counties are some that
I know about. My half brother had a large dairy
farm near Shelbyville and I visited with him
for 2 weeks back in the late 1950's. I have found
most of my Cowherd family buried in Grove Hill,
Simpsonville Cemetery and Bagdad cemetery.
The graves that I need to locate are on private
property where they were buried on their farms.
I know of Cowherd Family cemeteries near Bengal
in Taylor County near Greensburg in Green County.
If you know of any more please let me know.
I appreciate you offering to help me locate the
burials of my family. Let me go through my list to
see who I need to find.
Thank you so much,
John Lewis Cowherd Jr.

Linda,
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy
schedule to take this photo. I have so many of my
family members buried in Kentucky. Some are buried
in family cemeteries in Bengal, Shelbyville, Greensburg and Campbellsville. These are cemeteries
that were started on their home places. I'm sure
that there are records somewhere that will help me
locate these burial sites. I have the family members
names that owned the farms.
Thanks again,
John L. Cowherd Jr.

Dear Linda,

THANK YOU for pursuing this gravesite in such a remote place. Awesome! He would have been an older brother of my McCormick ancestor. We had always heard that Alexander drowned while crossing a creek, but it's amazing to actually see the site, and the creek in the background. Thanks again for all your efforts in the pursuit, and please thank the landowner as well!

RE: Humphrey Marshall
Linda, It looks like your husband and mine are related. Your Humphrey's father Charles was my husband's 3rd great grandfather. His son Dennis, by his second wife Mahala Brewer, is my hubby's 2nd great grandfather. I've done quite a bit of research tracking done Charles and would be happy to share and compare if you would like. If so, you can email me at jan46511@gmail.com. Nice bumping into you.

Humphrey Marshall
Linda, Humphrey is not that common of a name but it is a family name. What are the dates of your husband's Humphrey? And who were his children? Parents? I have ten Humphrey Marshalls on my Ancestry tree. It is very possible they are cousins. Jan

RE: Elizabeth Woolcutt
Thank you for making the correction and for adding the headstone photos of her parents. Her father, Humphrey Marshall, was my husband's great grandfather. His memorial is #46218322. Her mother, Anna Belle Cravens, was his great grandmother. Her memorial is # 46218340. There seem to be quite a few of his ancestors buried in Fairview Cemetery.

RE: Elizabeth Venable
That is just amazing that you were able to locate that cemetery I can't wait to see some of the photos. Even though it is sad to see older cemeteries in abandonment I am still glad it's not plowed over for the name of progress.
Thank you so much for your amazing efforts!

RE: Venable Cemetery D-53
Wonderful work! Once he clears the place it will be exciting to find just what still exists. Perhaps some of the field stones will turn out to be stones that have fallen on their faces as the coffins collapsed & have some inscription now hidden. When I went to one such family cemetery in VA we found a few such stones. Thank you for the update!!!

Dear Linda,
Thanks so much for your message and the wonderful photograph of her marker! I'm not on FaceBook so I'm not able to view the images. Hope you might add additional photos to their memorials on Find-A-Grave. That's wonderful the cemetery has been restored and isn't forgotten.
Best,
Bradford Willis
