Kelsie Lester Anderson
Caroline, if you look closely at Kelsie's stone, I believe his birth year is 1903, not 1909. That also jibes with census records.

Robert Francis Brailsford
Dear Caroline,
Thank you very much for taking the time to photograph Robert's grave marker. He served in Vietnam with our A Company, 70th Combat Engineer unit. I was his squad leader. Seven of our members died "during" the war and I am attempting to locate those who have died "since" the war. If interested, you can check out the "Memorial Room" for our honored members at We are proud to honor them. The Brailsford page will be added at a later date as I have not been able to locate a copy of his Obituary yet...still working on that. So your effort means a great deal to each of our A Company men who served with Robert. God Bless!

RE: Nowlins of Greenwood cemtary
I have never been to this cemetery, but I know there are unmarked graves. There are three of my husband's family buried there from the 30's and 40's. I have the death certificates and all say burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Chattanooga. Plus, there is a listing on UsGenWeb of all the unmarked burials but I'm not sure when that was done. I think it was from the WPA grave registration project in the 30's. Since the two Nowlin's I'm looking for died in the 40's, they are not listed, but the one that died in 1931 is listed. The website I mentioned says that at that time there were about 2500 unmarked graves. Is there a pauper's section maybe?

RE: Nowlins of Greenwood cemtary
Thank you so much for looking! I'm beginning to think that they are in unmarked graves, though. The others names you mentioned are not familiar at all, they may be related, but I don't know. As far as I can tell from an unpaid membership at, it looks like Worth D. Nowlin was from Dallas, TX. None of the Nowlins I am researching were from TX. Maude and William Nowlin are my mother-in-laws parents and they are all from Chattanooga, TN.
