RE: Sheriff Moody Johnson
no, no relation to me. (I'm transferring this one to you since it's your relative & I'm quite sure you can do his memorial much more justice than I can.)

Alva Palmateer
You have left flowers for Alva Palmateer, buried in the Novesta Township Cemetery, Tuscola County, Michigan. There are two photos of headstones in the memorial that seem to have two different dates. Do you have any more information on this memorial?

RE: Early Moon Photo
That is interesting. I don't think they were at the same fair though, because your moon picture has a straight eyebrow and mine was curved. We are probably related through Johan G Ostby 1862-1909 from Duluth would be my best guess.Gjermund Jensen Ostby 1782-1837 from Jens Norway or his son Gjermund G Ostby 1831-1924 from Trysil Norway go farther back. I have family photos of Gjermund if you are related and interested. beierle@cableone.net Doug Beierle

RE: Update on the Ostbys -
Yea! You at least KNOW where they are! Again, I am going to be going there sometime soon for a photo of my own. Your Section 12 is just a skip down from where I am going, so will see if the marker says Ostby or Thornby. Will touch base with you after I've visited the cemetery. Take care!

RE: Update on the Ostbys -
!!! Do NOT assume that they are not there just because there is no VISABLE grave marker!! I certainly don't buy that, and I'm not even related. Just because they are in a "monument" lot does not mean someone purchased a marker. Many many people have no markers for various reasons - money, religion, or just plain didn't want one. I have taken many photo's of "plots" of families that had no markers. There are 3 Ostby's in that plot - IF they were moved to another cemetery, Lakewood would STILL have records of that. You can't just dig up someone and move them without permits etc....
Also, in my own experience of photographing stones, I have had to dig out stones that were as deep as 4-6 inches buried from time.
First thing you should do, is call the cemetery and confirm burial (612-822-2171). If you live in town, go there. If you don't live in town to be able to do this - get back to me and I would be MORE than happy to help you. I have two graves over there of my own family - guess it's time to hop over to that side of town and get them....

Kingtown Cemetery
Good morning. I thought you might want to know that the Kingtown Cemetery is located in McCreary Co., KY, not Scott Co., TN. I have been there numerous times as I have relatives buried there. Also, there is already a KY listing for this cemetery with 215 interments recorded. Consequently, the Scott Co. listing for this cemetery is a much smaller and incorrect duplicate.

RE: Mabel leigh
Please click on the photograph to enlarge it and reveal a caption. This is the only stone on grave #170 in lot 13576. Since there is no surname, I'm guessing that "Lawrence" might be a brother of Mabel--but no "Lawrence Leigh" appears in the cemetery's online burial database. Nevertheless, those records give grave #170 as Mabel's grave. Contact the cemetery for clarification.

hi
I am doing family tree research.. I have come across your name in doing so. This is for my wife (Denise Cheryl Hopson Kahle) and by my calculations you are her 3rd cousin. Her 2nd great grandfather was Benjamin Johnson. If you would like to be in touch with her Denise is reachable at denise@ kahle.net.

RE: thanks.
Hi,
Yes Dan and I were closer then most brothers, I miss him now just as I did when he first left us. he was a loyal friend and confidant and we shared more common interests then motorcycles. We shared much in our personal lives and my children called him Uncle. He put on a hard front but those he really loved know much better. I remember crying with him as we looked at a picture of the Viet Nam Wall, he cried, "I didn't know it was that big!" as we remembered friends that didn't come home from there. We enjoyed models airplanes, model cars, antique machinery of any kind. I used to play piano at out spring motorcycle meet and Dan used to call me "Pianoman". We spend many late ours in conversation about anything and everything. He was intelligent and articulate and amazed many people who got past his outer appearance and got to know him. He was thrilled when his daughter Jen found him, many timed he had confided to me how he wished he could have known her. He was my dearest friend and I loved him deeply.

you were my dads first cousin?
Hi Jeuno, I was wondering how we are related through my father? William Leigh? I stumbled on this website. Thank you for making a rememberance of him. I live so far away from where he is buried. He spent all his life looking up his brothers and sisters thirteen in all. So he would have been thrilled to have met you. :) please contact me here, by email, or facebook. jenstar5505@hotmail.com or Jen Leigh on Facebook. Thanks, Virginia

Hello,
I attempted to find your photo request, but unfortunately my visit was rushed by an approaching thunderstorm and I failed to locate the marker. Do you happen to recall the general location in the cemetery where they are buried? I would be happy to try again the next time I am in the area.

I was takiing photos at Payne Springs Cemetery and noted that the birthday on this memorial does not match the birthday on the headstone. You might want to make a correction.
Thanks,

RE: Hi.
Thank you SO much for putting it up. I was just kinda curious as to who did it. Thank you for being his friend. One of the last things he told us was that he had no friends..... I don't know if you were at the funeral, but he most definitely had friends. I continue to hear from them today. Please keep in touch.
