Shattuck graves in Watertown, Mass.
Rebecca Shattuck # 72173578
Nathaniel Shattuck #71971655
Rebecca Chamberlain Shattuck # 71971056

Dear Orin,

This very old graveyard has lots of old stones, but also lots of open space where there are probably graves but with no stones or markers. In the past I have tried to find some of the graves requested with no luck. I have also called the cemetery office and asked about certain graves and not had any luck. Right now there are 38 requests for photos for this graveyard, and when I called the town's DPW to see if there was a database that I could access and troll through I got the impression that a list of 38 names would not be appreciated.

So, I you call the Watertown DPW and ascertain that indeed this person in buried there and HAS a gravestone, then let me know, I will gladly go searching for it and take a photo for you with pleasure.

Arduth Eloise Smith
Hi again Orrin! My cousin Carla forwarded your message about my Mom.

My Mom's name was incorrectly spelled Ardith on some census. Her name is as shown on the subject line. She was born 18 July 1913 in Des Moines, Iowa but I am not sure in what county. You might be able to find that out. She died at my house in Fountain Valley, Orange, CA of metastasized lung cancer on 29 Jul 1991.

If you want to send me your email I could "invite" you to see my tree on I am not sure how that works but I expect you would quickly learn how to maneuver around the tree. I think I could also email you a list of family names that I have. But I have never done it before.

Good luck on your genealogy work.

RE: Ola and Eva Peterson graves
We have a match. Albert married Eva Peterson's niece, Mary Welch. In 1900, Albert roomed at the Welch's home in Genoa, Illinois. He married Mary August 25, 1901. They eventually moved to Milwaukee, Wis. Contact me at and I will send you more info.

Ola and Eva Peterson graves
Wondering if you are any relation to Ola and Eva Peterson whose graves are in the Genoa Cemetery. They were my great grandparents and I know that their niece married Albert Merritt.

Charles F. Dralle
Thank you for taking the pic of Charles Dralle for me. I was just wondering is there any way to find out who his parents were and what the F. stands for in his name? Could they possibly be on the cemetery burial information for him?

Thank you ever so much

RE: Sponsorship
I found out what it was on my Aunt Virginia's (one of Norma A.'s sisters) memorial page. I clicked on the message that has something to do with removing advertisement from the page. Then a page comes up that states for five dollars you can kind-of sponsor the page and advertisements will be deleted. So I did it for her, her husband and daughter and then moved to the Murphys. I did not know my name would show on it. I assume it helps raise money for Find-A-Grave.

Merritt Cemetery
Hello Orrin. I transferred all of the Merritts to you. I remember this was a very tough cemetery to find. I was following an atlas, which just had a small green square marked "CEM". If you click on the map on the cemetery page, you'll see it is quite far into the woods. I walked so far up a "path" in the snow, and was so relieved when I saw it finally. I photographed as many headstones as I could, but there may have been more flat ones under the snow.

The gate shots on the cemetery page include the ones when I first saw the wall surrounding the cemetery. I recall the excitement I felt when it appeared.

Please let me know if you come across any other entries that you would like transferred. Good luck in your genealogy quest.

Minnie Sandberg photo request, Elmwood Cemetry, DeKalb Co., IL
Hi Orrin, My husband and I found Minnie's mother's gravesite, but didn't find Minnie next to her. My husband took some photos of Hannah's marker, with space next to her where there were no markers, where possibly Minnie is(?). We also have photos of the Johnsons on the other side of the Johnson monument. We did search nearby and didn't find the Sandberg plot. We didn't search the entire cemetery, but almost all of the cemetery. I'd be happy to email you the photos. I've created the Johnson memorials and posted their pictures and can transfer them, if you'd like. I didn' want to make any assumptions about little Bessie (1894-1894) but would think she was the daughter of Charles and Mrs. Charles (Matilda?) Johnson. Please let me know if you would like the photos emailed or any corrections/updates made to the Johnson memorials (or transfers). Loretta

do you know when and where he died. The rest of the family all died in Tacoma, and I think I know where they are buried and will confirm that on Monday. Thanks for the corrections.

Overlook Cemetery, Parkman, OH
While fulfilling your requests, we met a family from Mich. There was a very eldery lady with them looking for an ancestor & even though they had an I-Pad with the photo, they were unable to find it and we were able to help them out. Your request accomplished more than you would have expected.

Filled this request for you, email me if you want the other photos from the plot, looks like they need memorials built.

Take care,

RE: Photo request...Jeremiah Lawrence, Pepperell, MA
Ok...these dates you just sent do not match the ones on the findagrave memorial, for which you requested a picture. (It shows that person living 11 years as opposed to the info you show...he lives to 100!)
I'll see what I can "dig up" maybe literally!! We just got a ton of snow overnight!

Photo request...Jeremiah Lawrence, Pepperell, MA
HI there...went down to Pepperell today. I met with one of the Cemetery commissioners. He believes, due to the date of death, that this Lawrence is buried in Walton Cemetery...There are a few Lawrences in Pepperell Cemetery (which wasn't incorporated until 1900.) AND they are next to eachother, so sometimes people mix the 2 cemeteries up.
I will do some more investigating...please let me know if you have any other family member info I can work with. We just got a bunch of snow today, but I will keep on this until there is something to send to you!

Annalise Blackwood
PS- I added a family photo of James Henry Merrit and Cora Atwood-Merrit (and children). I just so happened to have this in my possession along with a book of my great grandmother Shaw's poetry!

Cora Atwood
Hello Orrin,

I believe we must be relatives! My name is Annalise, and I am extremely interested in learning more about my ancestors. Would you please be able to provide me with more information on Cora Atwood? She is somehow related to my great grandmother Bernice Lydia Shaw, who was born in 1901 on the Cherokee Strip in Oklahoma. I am still connecting all the dots, but would like to know as much about my family as possible. Bernice claimed to have Cherokee blood on her mother's side: her grandmother was Mary Samantha Atwood. She must be related to Cora somehow, and Cora certainly looks Native in my opinion. Do you happen to know if Cora is part Native American? Or if we have any other relatives who are of Cherokee decent? Furthermore, I would love to know how we are related exactly! Any reply from you would be greatly appreciated...tracing one's ancestry is a maddening but rewarding process! Thank you so much. Please reply on here or through my email:

Hi Orrin,

FYI, if you want to create a memorial it appears the petersons I filled for you yesterday had an infant son who died in 1897, and is buried next to them. Earl Peterson 1897-1897. I just found the photo. He does not have a memorial built, if you want to build one and request a photo. Let me know.
