THANK YOU for your message/the information.
I did as you requested.
You did not say if the same should be done with Laura's memorial. To save you time (by not having to send me another email), I will check back on the memorial for James and see if the photograph posted indicates that I should, and if it does then I will certainly do with her memorial what I did with his.

Thank you. After I sent a note to each of you, I saw that at least one of you had tried to correct the situation before. A note in yours would be great.

|Sue Deem||Vandalia Cemetery|
I am searching for directions to the Vandalia Cemetery. My husband's 3 X great grand parents are Nicholas and Catherine Dolly Linger. They are buried in the Vandalia Cemetery according to Find A Grave but I can not find its location in Lewis County. We will be going through the area in a couple weeks and would like to visit.
Thank you so much.

Evelyn, I do not know where Frank is buried. According to his death certificate, he died in Grasselli, Harrison County, West Virginia; Lynch-Osborne Undertaking Co. was the undertaker.

Thank you, Ms. Thorn, for correcting the misinformation on the Ben F. Bias memorial. Benjamin Franklin Byas/Bias who was first married to Virginia Jenkins Byas/Bias (his third cousin), and and then to Martha M. Linger, was my gg-grandfather. After Frank died in 1917, Mattie remarried Thomas Jefferson Wiseman. Mattie was born 16 Oct 1876, and she died in 1930. She is buried along side her second husband in the Georgetown Cemetery, Lewis County, West Virginia. Mr. Wiseman also passed away in 1930 (according to his headstone on findagrave).
Mattie was about fifteen years junior to Frank. I have always heard what a wonderful woman she was to have taken on the task of raising Frank's and Jennie's children as if they were her own. God bless her soul!

You're welcome! There was a whole family plot so I photographed them all. Weekend has been too busy for me to get back and take inventory, but I will let you know as soon as I do, in case they are relatives and you want to post them. If not, I will add them.

|Jon Kelly||John Henry Wharton family|
Many thanks for your fine research on the Parkersburg area cemeteries.
I just inherited this fine photo of my great-great-grandmother's sister's family, the John Wharton family. Thanks to your fine research and posting on http://www.findagrave.com, I've figured out the connection.
John Wharton's wife, Ruth Emma (Richardson) Wharton, was the sister of my great-great-grandmother, Samantha Richardson Gribble. Samantha's daughter Sarah married my GGF, James Albert Kelley. My GF, Albert Raymond Kelly, changed the spelling of the name in the era of "Spencerian" handwriting.
Also pictured are their children, Daniel "Berkley" Wharton, Nathaniel J. Wharton, and Elvira ("Vira") Elizabeth Wharton Dickson. The photo is undated, but from the childrens' ages, I suspect it is circa 1900.
I thought this was a very stoic and poignant photo of the Whartons and I wanted to share it with you.
We have visited the Shiloh Cemetery, where many of my ancestors are buried, but we have never visited the Mt. Moriah Cemetery. We'll plan to do so on our next trip to Parkersburg. Thanks again for the fine research and the clues to this old family photo.

Thanks Evelyn for linking Isabelle Smallwood to her Mother Mary Dooms Smallwood. Really appreciated!.. Also she is listed as buried in Heavner. I came across Isabelle's son Norman Rollins will,in WV wills and estates.In that will Norman lays aside money for a grave stone for his Mother Isabelle Rollins, who is buried in Pleasant Dale Cemetery in Upshur County.I looked at the Pleasant Dale website, long list of names no Isabelle but author says list is unfinished. My husband and I want to try to get to Pleasant Dale when the weather is warmer. Just a bit of info for you for Isabelle's page Thanks so much!!Laura Rollins

Glad to have been able to provide the photo. I don't remember seeing any other markers right near this marker. Unfortunately I did not pay attention to see if she Spencer would have been buried somewhere else in the cemetery.

|John L. Nelson||Richard H. Thorn|
Hi Evelyn, Thanks for contacting me about Richard's dates. I wanted to let you know that the dates on his stone are incorrect. His Obituary appeared in the Sunday Trenton Times Dec. 1944 listing his death as December 21, 1944. I have added the obituary how it reads in the Bio for Richard. He was 70 at the time of his death, that would put his birth year in 1874. His World War I draft card listed his birth date as 9/23/1874. I have also added a note that the years on his stone are incorrect. If you have any other questions please let me know. Thanks, John L. Nelson
