William was born February 29, 1815 (i know that can't be right since 1815 was not a leap year but that is what is engraved on the headstone)
Died May 9, 1892
Married to Elizabeth Ownbey.

My ggf was William Hall. His second wife, Margaret Dutton, was my ggm. I am looking for information on his parents and/or siblings. I am also curious has to how he met your 3rd ggm, Elizabeth Ownbey. After a great deal of research, I only know that he served in the Indian War, was a cabinet maker and reported to census takers three times that he was born in North Carolina.

I just took a couple of notes but next time I am at the library (may be a little while) I'll see if I can re-locate the article for you.

No, I did not know your aunt. I was researching some items in the 1967 microfiche and came across the information in the local Roseville newspaper about your aunt. The news item said she had moved to Alaska 10 years before her death (and newspapers are not always correct, of course). Good to hear that your memorial is in your care with a bit more added. Your aunt sounds like she was an adventurous spirit.

I looked all around for another Sloan in the area since his last name is not on the marker and "son" is shown but no luck. Possibly a mother with a different last name????

|rrob||RE: Incorrect Name|
What an incredibly small world, right?
H C was the name. (No periods since they weren't initials.) Do you still live in the Oklahoma City area?
My Dad's entire family, with the exception of myself, lives in Newalla, Harrah, Shawnee. My sister works at OSU in Stillwater.
Several years ago, my cousins and I put together a family memory book. It started from a desire to gather our Grandma's recipes. It became a book of stories, photos and some recipes. We put it in loose leaf binders so we could add to it through the years. We just haven't done anything to it. I'm going to digitize it so we can all have copies on eReaders or the computer. And it will be easier to update that way. (I hope). These photos you uploaded are awesome and we would love to include them if you will allow that.
Thank you so much for the information and for the kind note. God bless, Rhonda Ownbey Bone
(My dad was Erwin Ray Ownbey.)

# 52558756 Herchel Cecil Ownbey is an incorrect name for this person. He was my uncle. His name was H C Ownbey, just like is listed on his grave stones. (Rev Herchel Cecil Ownbey was a different person, and actually was H C's uncle.) I verified this name with H C's older daughter today.

Thanks for trying Shari. I can see that whoever did the engraving didn't really do it right so it makes it difficult to get a good shot of it. I appreciate you taking the time to try and get it for me.

Could I possibly get a digital copy of the Devine D Gardiner headstone? I am particularly interested in a close shot of the Smiths at the bottom. Carl is my grandfather and June was my step-grandmother. We have never been able to get pictures of where June's children buried them so I would be very grateful for a picture. Thank you.
