Are you related to her? She married Harry Phillip Smith. Both are buried at Gilmer Cemetery. I am related to Meta.
I saw your post on her Memorial say you are cousin. I am related to her Hays line back in Tn where her dad came from.

Vonda & John, first of all, thanks so much for all your effort in FindAGrave. Regarding James P & Louiza Whitecotton -- would you think it best to add their other children's names? It is not known where at least three of them were buried, but in any case the additional names are:
Hiram (Hy)
Isaac Newton
Nancy Ann
Martha J Erwin
James (Jim) W. Jr
Louisa Sapfrona (Fronie)
Maybe they could be added just as part of their bio. I am a Whitecotton descendant, but mine branch off from this set up in NE Tennessee.

Just grasping at straws, would you happen to know who her mother was? If she was Lula Belle Dodson, I would like to ask a few questions.

Whitecottons of Springdale Cemetery
Wanted to let you know that we added the pictures of your requests of Velma and James Whitecotton of Springdale (TX) Cemetery. We also found with them Jackie Whitecotton and Nancy Whitecotton that we didn't see as having memorials yet. We wanted to know if you would rather add their memorials and we would add the pictures. If not, we'll add the memorial and picture. The stones are the same for all, and they were all together. So, looks like they are family.

Hello Cuz,
Glad to hear from another descendent.

Hello. Regarding your photo request at Restland. Requests are not likely to be filled without plot information. As the cemetery is over 400 acres with multiple mausoleums, this information is pertinent. The office does not have time to look up info and is now taking person info from non-family members for HIPPA purposes. If you'd like your request to be filled, please call them at 972-238-7111 - Hours are from 9am-6pm CST Monday-Sunday. You can also send them an e-mail requesting plot info by visiting their contact page at: -- If you're able to, please revise the persons profile page with known plot info so that volunteers can proceed. Thank you and have a good day.

RE: Thanks
Hi John,
No problem. I've recently gotten involved with tracing family and find this very rewarding.

Hello. As Restland is over 400 acres with numerous mausoleums, could you please call to obtain plot info? Garden and section number please. Their number is 972-238-7111‎ - the office is generally open until 6pm 7 days a week. Although you would likely have better luck calling, you can also try e-mailing them at

Glad to hear from you and so glad to finally hear from another descendent. Do you live in South Carolina? I live in Bartow, Polk County, Florida. Now being it is so hot here I am trying to do a lot of linking the families together. The trip to that cemetery was so interesting.

Grove Hill Memorial Park/Restland Memorial Park
Please call them at 214-381-7118 and get a location of the grave site for Ethel Tucker, Dora Bowling, Hazel Mason & Tommie Bowling and I will gladly go and photograph their tombstones. Restland @ 972-238-7111 for Ocie Williams, Gertrude Grizzle and James Tucker. They are short handed and will not look up the information for anyone other than a relative. I did this for someone else looking and I got the photo that week. Email me with the plot and I will go look and get a photo. Thanks

RE: transfer
Smith, I have transferred both graves of Sue and T B Whitecotton to you. There are also other Whitecotton graves in the Wheatville Cemetery. Infant son Whitecotton, J W Whitecotton, Nancy Clark Whitecotton, Tim Whitecotton Jr., Willie Clyde Whitecotton. I hope this will be of some help.
Also I have been told through stories passed down the town of Naples, TX was originally called Wheatville. This is how they say this cemetery recieved its name. You may want to check the history of the town of Naples, TX in relation to maybe some history on your family members of Whitecotton.
