Cecil/Prell
I transferred Cecil/Prell memorials to you since you are related and I'm not. The three Cecil children are buried beside their great-grandmother Mariah Hastings.

RE: Tree Memorials
And quite an adventure it was! The cemetery is not easily accessed. Up a steep path on a private drive (with permission) to a neatly tended tiny cemetery. So happy to be able to locate the grave!

Alexander Adams transfer
Done, with utmost pleasure. With Eastern especially, what matters is they belong with family, no matter how far down the line or where.

Respectfully,

RE: Anna Carstensen
I have already photographed virtually every readable tombstone in the county so it is easy to get the photo even when the marker itself is now buried in snow.

Shirley - all transferred! If you need anything else for that cemetery, please let me know. I would rather have family maintain memorials!

Thanks,

RE: Julius and Paulina Wiese
You are very welcome. I've never done this before so I wasn't sure what to expect.

Probably due to all the rain that we had, the marker was loaded with moss. I tried to clean it as best as possible. If I ever go back there, I will try to clean up the marker better and send another pic.

I noticed that Julius' birth year listed on this site is 1885. However, it looks more like 1865 on the grave marker.

Take care,
Mary Ann

RE: ID Military in Westlawn-Hillcrest
Shirley -

Thank you again for your response on the military at Westlawn. Harold Richard Heikes Sr is buried at Forest Lawn also here in Omaha. We do not do the flags there, but I will try to see if anyone does and if so, add him to their list.

Again thank you and if you know of anyone else that might be buried at Westlawn-Hillcrest that served in the military, please let us know.

RE: ID Military in Westlawn-Hillcrest
Thank you for helping us with this project. We will add him to our list so he will have a flag placed on his grave for Memorial Day. Because many who served in the military have no markings or indication on their graves, we depend on word of mouth to identify them and honoring them for their service. Please feel free to share about our project with others. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge 326

ID Military in Westlawn-Hillcrest
We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge.

If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.

Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

RE: Hastings
I transferred the memorials. Mariah is buried in the east section of the cemetery, by herself. David, Elenor, Ora, and Margery are buried together in the west section. If you look at the second gravestone photo on Elenor's memorial you can see Ora's behind it, slightly to the right, with Margery's behind Ora's.

Pleasant Hill is a very old cemetery, accessible only by gravel roads, and surrounded by cornfields. It is completely flat and so is the surrounding countryside so maybe the name was meant to be humorous. I found many, many old gravestones dating back to the 1880s & 1890s.

RE: John Hurlburt Pinney, Sr.
Hello Cousin Shirley!

I am interested in any pictures or information you may have available.

We don't know much about Lucy Jane Pinney Hale or her siblings and family. She married John Hale and they had two sons. Glen was one of their sons and he was my grandmothers biological father. Grandma never made mention of him during her life. We found out who he was after she died. So that is the short version of a long story. My mom would probably be your first cousin??

Like wise I would be happy to share information and pictures with you as well:)

Tree Cemetery layout
I round a hand drawn layout of the Tree Cemetery while researching at the Lafayette County Historical Museum. I have added it as a photo to the cemetery site. I hasn't been approved yet but will probably be within 24 hours -- at least that's how long the others have taken. It didn't have a directional sign on it so to orient you, Helen and Mary are on the west side. Hope this helps you!

Andrew Ekman
I located Andrew's grave, however, he was buried in the "potter's field" area of Benson City Cemetery and no marker was ever placed on his grave. It is confirmed that he was buried in that cemetery, in that plot.

I wish I had better news and a photo for you. I have not tried locating an obituary for him; but if you would like one, please contact the Swift County Historical Society at:
