Peter , i took a picture of this grave the other day but (and then realised you had already done one - how you managed it as i was in five foot grass in that area - also the stone doesnt appear to be leaning now maybe they mended it ?) i cant read the bottom of the stone and its very overgrown , Do you know what is says on the bottom of the stone as im putting the parents on - your picture has less thorny growth but i cant enlarge from here - thanks Andrea - also would you like me to add my pic to the memorial as well (i think they are allowed five in total ) - its not as clear as your but its got a bit more colour on it

James Slinger/Robinson
hi Peter,

Thanks for your time on this and e mail, not sure how we can do that memorial with both names on but in the meantime , i have e mailed the international wargraves who created the original under Slinger with details of the problem , however they say they get a lot of edits and dont reply to e mails as they get so many , so ive sent in in edit form as well , im not sure if they will process it though as I had to put ALL his details in an e mail and his story is a little complicated, and was hoping they might come up with somthing

I dont know how to put both names onto one memorial though and didnt know if that were possible - but ill see what they come up with. Another thing I might do it to ask them if they will transfer the Slinger memorial in Sanctury wood to you and then you can edit and put a link into it but keep both memorials on if we cant put 2 last names on (as the only was I think we can do it is with a maiden name ?)

What do you think?

RE: pvt james
What a run around this solder had me do today !! not only did he add FOUR YEARS to his age to make hismef 21 when he was only just turned 17 - but he changed his name as his mum had re married to someone else so he was using his stepfathers name which is Slinger - so he registered under THAT name (not Robinson !!)
his memorial is here - 12731151

RE: pvt james
hi again sorry forgot to mention , i THINK James lied about his age on the sign up papers as he added a couple of years on so his memorial at Belgium MIGHT have a differernt age , i have checked Sanctuary wood in Belgium and hes not been put in there so maybe you migth like to also transfer the memorial to that cemetry /but he was defo born 1897 and died aged 18

Peter, I was looking at my family tree as i have a lot of Higsons in the tree and ive found that James Robinsons grandparents James Higson and Elizabeth (nee Macdonald) lived on junction rd is my 3x cousin , they had three daughters so one of them must have married a Robinson, their names are Mary A, Jane A and Sarah E, so one of these is James Robinsons mother , i was excited to find that he was part of my tree but im finding a lot of the graves i find at Deane are some relative (some at a stretch), so not sure if that will help at all - i ill try to get more detail on his parents. I dont have free accress ot ancestry at the moment so cant get the 1911 census until i got to library so ill ask some one to do me a look up

hi Peter
Can you check this memorial -
17904439 William middlehurst(senior) died in pretoria pit which you have put the pic on there and Ive put wife Catherine on his wife (Deane Church) at the bottom of the memorail is soldier son pvt william middlehurst died 9 may 1917

- now the wargraves people have put on a memorial this n 10895681 which SOUNDS like him but if it is then perhaps we can now add the pic? was wondering if it is the same one but the batallion number say 10th and the memorials a bit different but both lancashire so - as i would like to link the parents - i have also taken a pic of the grave as i didnt know you had done it - but again bottom hidden in a bit of grass but check catherines if its easier to read.

He could be my John Tierney who married to Margaret Rawlinson Berry in 1912(who was a widow when she remarried John Marsh in 1921) This John may have the parents Patrick Tierney and Mary Crook...but I can't place the "S" in his name so I'm not sure!

Deane church - soldiers
found two soldiers mentioned on a grave they are called Herbert Hadfield LNL died 1917 aged 19 killed in France and James died 1918 january 28 RAMC - just wondering if you might have James AGE as there is so much grass at the biottom of the stone I cant see - i know the international war graves have already put them on so was thinking of just uploading the pics to but they are right at the bottom of the grave hidden in grass - i think they are brothers and the parents are Robert Hadfield and Nancy
