Katherine Knoche
Hi Again, After studying the death certificate you sent I still have a question about Katherine Knoche's maiden name. The death certificate gives the names of Louis Knoche's parents, and yes his mother's name was Elizabeth Strockbein (that name has been spelled several ways). Unfortunately that document does not give any information about Louis' wife. I am concerned about Katherine's name being shown as Strockbein in her Find a Grave memorial because I have not been able to find any documentation that supports that. The only source I have for a maiden name for Katherine was written by her daughter-in-law and my Grt Grandmother Bettie Florence Young Knoche. Bettie and George (Louis's son)were married 1903 and Bettie knew her mother-in-law Katherine who passed away 1909. Bettie recorded Katherine's maiden name as Knoche, and made a note beside it stating that there was "no relation" What that means to me is that recording her name as Knoche was not a mistake or over sight. Bettie also recorded that Katherine lived in Paola prior to marrying her husband. Now, I'm not saying that this is proof, but Bettie was very interested in her ancestors and collected a lot of information on family over the years. I'm sorry to be so wordy, and I understand if you don't have the time to sort all this out. But if you do get any further info from your Knoche friends I would really appreciate a heads up. In fact, if it happens to be easy, could you pass this question on them? I would love to get their take on this. Thanks again for your kindness. Claudette

Katherine Knoche
Dear M. Hodge

Concerning Find A Grave Memorial # 41528659

Thanks so much for creating this wonderful memorial. I am wondering if you might be related to this Knoche family since your write up is so concise on Louis’ birth place, and you have linked so many family members. Awesome, and so generous!

What is the source for his birthplace? I have a few photos that you may like to have.

Louis b. 1834 was my G G Gr. and I am very curious about the maiden name of his wife. My G Grandmother Bettie Florence Young Knoche recorded Katherine Knoche’s maiden name as Knoche with a note beside it that read “no relation.” I have no idea how she came upon that information, and it may not be correct.

My branch of the family comes through Louis’ son George William Knoche b. 1875, (Bettie’s husband).

Other than a few census records I have not been able to find any more information about Katherine. And of course her name is recorded in those records as Anna Catherine as well, but that is the nature of the census.

Do you have a source for her maiden name of Strackbein? I would be very interested in any documentation leads you may have. It is curious that her mother-in-law, Elizabeth, also had that maiden name.

If you have the time to reply, I would appreciate it greatly. Thank for listening.

James Hodge headstone
Hello M, I was at the McKendree Cemetery today. I walked the entire cemetery and most thoroughly the old section. I did not find James' headstone. I also checked the Scioto Co Gravestone Inscriptions book at the library. The stone was not read in the 1970's either. However, there is one for Martha Hodge - wife of James Hodge. I'm adding it to the cemetery. There is a stone beside hers, but no name on it. Could be James'.

Highland Cemtery burial lot
Hello! I am the g-g-granddaughter of John and Lydia Sullivan. Your Hodge/Johns relatives are buried in the same lot in Highland Cemtery, Ft. Mitchell, KY, Sec 2, Lot 68-A.

According to the documentation I received from the cemetery, it requested permission from a daughter of John and Lydia to bury the Hodge/Johns family in that lot.

Just curious, are we related? Thanks!

DePasquale photo request
Hi, I fulfilled your two photo request for Maria and Bernadino DePasquale, in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Salt Lake City. I have a few more photos that I'd be happy to email to you, if you want. I also took a picture of the back of the headstone, which simply has DePasquale.
Thanks,

Adelaida Boehme's Headstone Page
Hi Mark!

It is Suzy. I was wondering if you could edit the info. on your Find A Grave page for her.

It was printed that Francisca was her mother. Francisca was her sister not her mother. Isabelle Sevilla was Adelaida's mother.

Thought you would like to know as she is my mother's grandmother.

Thanks so much. Hope you are well. Cold here in new York. Snow coming upstate, not to me, yeh!

RE: John & Katherine Hodge
Sorry I couldn't find John and Katherine. There are several small cemeteries in the town of Lincoln (where Clockville is located). I've checked their online listings and didn't find your Hodges. You could try contacting the Madison County Historical Society. They may be able to determine if they are in Clockville. If so then there is probably no stone. I'll keep my eyes open for John and Katherine.

Just wanted to thank you for such nice entries from St. Michael's Cemetery in Spfd. MA. You really 'fleshed out' a very nice family profile. I had been recently contacted by a previously unknown relative with info about unknown gr.gr.aunt. I checked Findagrave.com and found all this great information since last I'd checked. You did a great job!

Sarah Thorn Mathews Hodge
Thanks for the info, I was able to find the biography on Joseph Mathews on google and download it.
Are you related to my Hodge's, or just researching all of them?
I've only been able to go back to John Hodge born 1770 Ireland (conflicting info says, Pennsylvania) died 1851 Ohio, he married Rachel Seeds.
I'd be interested if you have any information.

Yes, I sent you a suggestion. You personally will not be able to delete the memorial, you will have to ask findagrave to. Didn't catch it while I was flying through the transfers. Sorry about that.

RE: John Hodge in Baker Cemetery
Thomas J Hodge (b 1832) and Thomas J Hodge (b 1877) appear in federal census as "J"; unfortunately, the middle name is never listed. I don't know if you are familiar with this link http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nyononda/MAPS/MAPS.HTM
If you look at the maps of Pompey/Fabius from 1860 and 1874, you will find a number of Hodges, including TJ in the 1874 Fabius map, lot 38. As to whether or not these are related to Jacob, or another group entirely, it's an interesting mystery to solve!

John Hodge in Baker Cemetery
I have been to the Baker cemetery in Pompey a couple of times, and there is no headstone for John. There is, however, a stone for a John M Horton, D May 30 1842, aged 58 (i.e. b 1794) Now either this is an amazing coincidence, or someone made a transcription error in the past. Eliza Hodges (wife of TJ per her stone) is buried in a plot surrounded by the remnants of the Hibbard family. I'm assuming she was a Hibbard daughter--died young and was "returned to her family". I have found records of a Thomas J. Hodges, (b 1832) living in Fabius (s of Pompey) in the 1880 census, with a younger wife "Maryette", b 1850. I'm going to make a big leap and guess this is "TJ" (probably a grandson of Jacob) with his second wife and that there never was a John Hodges in Baker cemetery. The person to contact would be the Pompey town historian. It would be interesting to find out if "TJ" is related to Jacob, and where is Jacob buried? Sorry for long note!

Nancy Elliott

Dear M Hodge,

I wondered if you would be willing to let me manage Nancy Elliott's memorial. I am a direct descendant of hers through her son Laban Elliott (my G Gf). I recently made application to the DAR through his line.

I would love to hear more of the work on DNA that you have done. I have had my brother and my husband's DNA put on file through the Sorenson project but do not know how to proceed from there. I would like to know how to use it to prove descendency as you have done.

Thanks for all you do for F A G.

Go down to left side to databases and click on portsmouth library historical search indexes. Click on cemetery and enter the Hodge name. On the second page you will see that they are many Hogde in McKendree.
