Hello. I was just curious on the difference of the middle name/initial. If his middle name is Madison, why the W. I am directly related to his father Andrew Jackson Champion and am putting together a family tree and was just hoping for some clarification. Thanks so very much! Debbie

Headstone photos for William Franklin Conwill and wife Ida Lou submitted by you are actually for William Alvia Conwill and Allie Pearl. Not sure about the personal photos, but the headstone photos are not correct.

To have Hill Harris Smith removed from your line, you will need to contact the person who is maintaining the memorial. All I did was to add a requested picture. Hope this helps

Clarification on search for B. T. Shelton's grave
I was trying to write I did not find the grave of B. T. Shelton , the father of John W. Shelton , in the vicinity of the Shelton family graves I found at Priceville Cemetery in Lee County , Ms. I suppose it is possible that he might be buried somewhere else in the cemetery . At this time I was not ready to tackle that search throughout the cemetery yet . Also I have wondered if a mistake was made in naming the birth year as 1880 for B. T. Shelton who married Viola Bennett and had the son John W. , could it be that the B. T. Shelton who married Miss F. L. Maxey on Dec. 24 , 1879 was the same man that married Viola Bennett . If the B.T. Shelton listed in both marriages was the same man , perhaps he was buried beside Flora or Florence Leona Maxcy Shelton wherever her grave is . It may be two different men both going by the name B. T. Shelton , but since Flora or Florence died prior to the marriage of Viola Bennett and B. T. Shelton it seems possible should 1880 or a similar date not be the date of Viola's husband B. T. Shelton birth that B. T. Shelton married both Florence and Viola . However that is just speculation on my part . It seems to come down to just when Viola's husband B. T. Shelton was born and what is the proof for that date .

Shelton Family
I found the graves of John W. Shelton , his wife and two infant graves , took photos , and created pages for them . They were all in the Shelton family plot . Just outside it was the grave of Billy Wayne Shelton which I had forgotten did not have a photo yet on his memorial page . I hope to go by the cemetery next week when I am in back visiting in Lee County , Ms. I did not see B. T. Shelton's father's grave in the vicinity of the other Shelton graves and did not try to search that huge cemetery . I really would like to know why it was posted on the genealogy forum for Lee county that John's father , Viola's husband , was born about 1880 . I have no evidence of that and would like to know what evidence there is of John's father B. T. Shelton being born around 1880 . On the other hand a B. T. Shelton married F. L. Maxcy ( Flora or Florence L. ) on Dec. 24 ,1879 in Lee County , Ms. That woman died before the marriage of B. T. Shelton and Viola Bennett on October 28 , 1905 . It is interesting that both marriage records had the groom's name listed as B. T. Shelton . The tombstone for John W. Shelton has his birthdate as Aug. 27 , 1906 .

Viola Bennett Gillentine
Thanks for linking Viola to her second husband Joseph A. Raper . I hope to go Thursday to Priceville Cemetery to locate the Shelton plot and see if John W. Shelton , Viola and B. T. Shelton's son is buried there . It would be great if I could find B. T. Shelton's grave too whether there or elsewhere . The father of one B. T. ( Benjamin Thomas ) Shelton is Whitten Shelton , Sr. who is buried at Maxcy Cemetery near Belden . I have seen suggestions that Viola's husband B. T. was born in 1880 so that can't be the same man if that birthdate is correct . The problem is finding another B. T. or Benjamin Thomas Shelton born in 1880 on the census . Whitten's son B. T. Shelton was born a generation earlier than 1880 . If Whitten's son B. T. Shelton had a son named after him born in 1880 that one was not listed on any census records in the area for 1880 or 1900 . However Whitten's son B. T. with his first wife was listed in both 1880 and 1900 but then she died around 1904 . Life is full of mysteries that are not always solved .

Joseph Raper , Viola
I found 2 marriage records for Joseph Raper . On the first he was listed as Joseph Raper with spouse Fannie Gunter with the marriage date October 28 , 1876 with the location Lee County , Ms. The other marriage record had the name J. A. Raper and spouse Mrs. Viola Shelton with the marriage date July 31 , 1907 and location Lee county , Ms. On the 1910 census record in Belden in Lee County , Ms. were Joseph Raper , Viola Raper , Mary Raper 14 , John Raper 10 , a child listed as John Shelton Raper 4 , and Sam J. Raper 8 months old who was Joseph and Viola's son . The child John Shelton Raper is listed as John Shelton in other records and was a child Viola brought to the marriage . I still have not discovered which Shelton Viola Bennett was married to before her second marriage to Joseph A. Raper and third marriage to Claude B. Gillentine .

Gillentine Family
Thank you for linking Claude B. Gillentine and his wife Viola Bennett Gillentine and adding Viola's maiden name Bennett . Also thank you for linking Clara , Hubert , and Roy B. to their parents . I believe that Henry L. is also Claude and Viola's son as well but will do more research before I make a request through the edit feature . Apparently Viola was previously married to a Raper and to a Shelton . On the obituary of another child of Claude and Viola's ( Hazel Cheney ) it states Hazel's brother that survived her was Earl Gillentine and that preceding Hazel in death were these siblings Josie Pate , Clara Humble , Jack Raper , Johnny Shelton , Roy Gillentine and Hubert Gillentine . So evidently Viola had been married twice - once to a Raper and once to a Spencer prior to her marriage to Claude B. Gillentine . Hazel Cheney herself was married 3 times - first Troy Box , second William G. Wright , and third J. C. Cheney . Hazel was buried in Jones Chapel Cemetery .
