Mathews/Matthews info
Does anyone have information on the Mathews/Matthews family from Arkansas or Tennessee? The farthest back I can go is to John Lawrence Mathews born in 1840 in TN. He was my great great grandfather. I see there wasn't a father listed for him. Any help would be appreciated.

Mrs Arlene is indeed alive, she is 88 years old and lives down the road from her son. Talked to him yesterday, he said his mother would gladly talk family with you. If you want her phone Number Bryan gave it to me, i will send per your private e-mail if you desire.

I believe that she is still living, perhaps living with a Daughter in Little Rock or Batesville. Next week i will ask her Son if i happen to see him or a nephew, will let you know.

"SLIDE CRUSHES HOME, KILLING FAMILY OF FIVE.
Roseburg, Ore. (AP) -- Five members of a family were killed yesterday when a mudslide broke loose in a canyon, crashed down on their home and shattered it to bits. Somehow, three children survived.
The five deaths raised Oregon's storm-flood death toll since last Wednesday to 12. Three others are missing.
Dead are MARION E. NEAL and his wife ACERENA [sic], both about 45, and their children, MARY, 15, BECKY, 12, and TOM, 17. The bodies of all but TOM were recovered. He is buried in the mud at the slide scene near Remote, a little south-west Oregon community 40 miles west of Roseburg.
Those who survived were MARGARET ELAINE, 13, who suffered neck injuries; BILLY, 6, cuts and bruises and ALVIS, 8, unhurt. MARGARET ELAINE and BILLY were taken to a Roseburg hospital.
Douglas County Coroner L. L. Powers said the stunned children were unable to give a coherent account. But he pieced together this story:
At about 4:30 a.m. a huge wave of mud, higher than the NEAL'S one-story frame house, broke from a canyon and crashed over the structure. It swept pieces 300 feet across a field.
"There aren't two sticks of wood still nailed together," Powers said.
The family was in bed. The three surviving children finished the night huddled together, then looked for their parents.
The tragedy was discovered about 9:30 a.m. by John Cawrse, the NEAL'S closest neighbor, who lives a mile away. He notified authorities, who had to fight their way for hours through numerous slides to reach the area."

Born 12-28-1981 -- Died 9-11-2005

Jason Wayne Frazier, son of Kennith Frazier of Mt. Pleasant and Theresa Weaver of Melbourne, was born Dec. 28, 1981, in Calico Rock. He died Sept. 11, 2005, in Calico Rock at the age of 23 years.

He graduated from Melbourne High School in 2000. He attended C-1 Trucking School in Little Rock., and was employed by Emerson Electric as a truck driver.

He was saved at the Freewill Baptist Church in Marshall, Ark., and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his mother, Theresa Weaver of the home; his father, Kennith and Phyllis Frazier of Mt. Pleasant; one sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Lance Marlin of Zion; one brother, Larron McClure of Brockwell; maternal grandmother, Annie Weaver of Melbourne; paternal grandmother, Ida Mae Frazier of Mt. Pleasant; two nephews, A.J. and Cody Marlin; numerous aunts and uncles and a host of other relatives and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Wayne Weaver; and his paternal grandfather, Dean Frazier.

The funeral service was Sept. 14 at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with John High and Larry Sellars officiating.

Burial followed at Campbell Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were James David Pratt, Travis Hartley, Torrey Bishop, T.J. Bishop, Larron McClure and Lance Marlin.

Honorary pallbearers included Ted Foreman, Andrew Weaver, Wayne Crow, Will Weaver, David Pratt, Jeff Pratt, A.J. Marlin, Cody Marlin, Sam Carolan, Justin Jett, Keith Bangs and Earnie Blackley.

Hi again Deb:
I just got off the phone w/ my ex & he believes that his sister Coleen was laid to rest @ the same cemetery as his parents but on the other side of the interstate(the older section of the cemetery perhaps?)He also said that his brother Philip is buried there as well,along w/ other family members(2 nephews).I'm not sure if this helps you or not but I'm not remembering
stuff like I use to. "OF ALL THE THINGS I'VE LOST-I MISS MY MIND THE MOST" is my motto nowadays

I transferred Harold(Davis)into your care & also emailed you his daughters obit from the BDN (Bangor Daily News)in Maine. I'll make a phone call to her brother (my ex) & see where she was laid to rest because I'm really not sure if she is w/ her parents or not. There is also 2 sons who have passed away as well. One before Theresa passed away & one after she passed.The one who died after she passed away was the oldest of the 16 children I believe.

There is a memorial up for Theresa.Davis but the person who put it up passed away back in 2009.
I did contact her son (nascargoodolboy #46844035)back on the 11th of November,requesting a transfer of Theresa to my care so she can be w/her husband.As of yet,I haven't heard anything back from him but I'm sure he is pretty swamped with the requests for transfers that his Mom had done before she passed away.I really don't know Deb if the daughter of Theresa has a memorial up or not but I will check but..I can't connect Theresa to her parents etc until I hear back from the above.Theresa's # is 6692181

BTW:If you'd be interested, I'd be more then happy to transfer Harold.Davis,husband of Theresa to you so that the family can all be together.

Small world is it not ??? There was 16 children in the Davis family & there are 13 still w/ us today. One of the daughters passed away from cancer back in April/May of this year. Theresa wasn't here to see yet one more great grandchild born. My daughter gave me my very 1st grandchild ( a beautiful little boy)last October but I'm sure his Grammie Davis watch's over him & the rest of the Davis clan :-)

Thank-you !!! Theresa is/was my Mother-in-law for 16 1/2 years & she was a sweetie. Her Mom Jessie was a little sweetheart as well.I married into the family after her Father Arthur had passed away so therefore-I didn't get the opportunity to get to know him.Not to much info is out there on Harold.Davis(Theresa's husband) so we're @ a stand still as far as that part of the family goes.
