RE: Pahlmann
Hi John, John H Pahlmann is my daughter's 2nd great-grandfather. The family line goes thru Oliver to Hazel Pahlman, her grandmother. You are maybe a 2nd cousin? Walt

RE: Mary Jane Miller
I just took a quick look for David Miller and Ella Sharpe. They are both in 9895. Only the cemtery staff can give you the grave numbers--I suspect you'll find them in 812 or 686.

RE: Mary Jane & Arthur Miller
The first thing you should know about this lot is that it is not a private lot. This is a public lot, containing approximately 870 grave units, each measuring approx 4 x 8 feet, and each accomodating 4 or more burials. Arthur and Mary are not in the same grave (see the grave numbers in the captions). It appears that Mary Jane was the daughter of Peter and Jane Woods (the 1860 census shows all 5: Peter, 40; Jane, 32; Mary Ann, 15; Mary Jane, 8; and Elizabeth, 4. Your most appropriate course of action would be to contact the cemetery ( and request burial lists for Public lot 9895, graves 686 (Arthur) and 812 (Mary Jane). At Green-Wood's web site, you can do your own online burial search. Good luck.

RE: Robert J Anderson
You're very welcome. Robert is my husband's 1st cousin 2x removed. I have recently been working on some Anderson family info and read just a hint of how Robert died. Am curious if you are related also and if so, how. If I can be of further assistance please let me know. Eileen

RE: Willim Lester
Hi John,
You're very welcome.
If you need any others from the Lester family, please put in requests for each of the ones you want and I'll be glad to add them for you. There are about 15 or 16 others buried in that plot where William M is.
Happy Holidays.
Sincerely, Ron Kinney

I took and posted the photo for William M Lester. William J Lester is not buried there in the Lester plot and I can't find him as being buried in Forest Hill at all.

I uploaded a photo of the only marker I was able to find. It was exactly where you stated. I cleaned it off the best that I could before photographing but didn't have a brush or other cleaning supplies with me.

Photo of Katherine Mode
John - thank you so very very much on behalf of my husband, Terry Singleton, for the picture of his gg-grandmother, Katherine Mode. My husband couldn't believe there were such nice people out there who would do such things on a volunteer basis.
My husband grew up in St. Louis, and used to visit Okawville to go fishing on the Okaw river with his grandparents, Arthur Essick Singleton and Elizabeth Tinnin Singleton. Arthur, his grandfather, was the grandson of Katherine Mode.

thanks again John - you're the best.

I misstated something in my last post. Ritha's first husband was not a Civil War veteran, but actually was killed in action at Nashville. Her second husband, however, was a veteran having re-enlisted after being discharged for medical reasons. Pat

John, thank you so much for fulfilling my photo requests for John and Ritha (Walker) Journey. As I researched Ritha (my Walker line) and found that she had been married to two Civil War Veterans, plus John had served two tours of duty, I very much wanted their stones posted. Living in Oklahoma, it would have been impossible for me to take them any time in the near future. Again, THANKS!
