RE: Mt Carmel
No I am not. Are you aware that the Sycamore True Republican newspaper has been digitized by the Univ. of Ill.? Check the DeKalb County Genweb site for a link. You can find obits and lots of stuff about the people buried in Mt. Carmel.

RE: Bruski
I've added all the Bruski photos I have.

RE: Bruski
Hi, there were several other Bruskis in the same plot and two others in another section. I photographed them all and will try to add them soon.
There were 59 requests at the cemetery so my wife and I decided to just start walking it figuring we were bound to find some of them. We ended up finding 43 so it was worth it.

None to be Forgotten
RE: Photo Req
If you check your request, you will see an explaination. Also, there is a "general" explanation on the main cemetery page for St. Mary's.

Basically, I made a special trip into Winona to photograph 40+ requests. However, there is no "map" to St. Mary's and the office basically tells you "it up that way". Well, St. Mary's is a BIG cemetery with an estimated 100,000 burials - not all marked - so to walk around in the hopes of finding a grave . . .

If I had made a request, I would have been very disappointed but I don't know what else I can do. I will be contacting the Board of Directors - for St. Mary's and Woodlawn, to see if we can can up with a better way to do these. Sorry!

RE: Amalie
Hello from Berlin (Germany),

Christian Gotthold Lpfert was a brother of my great-great-grandfather Christian Friedrich Lpfert (1820-1886).

The surename has been spelled in diffrent ways, aften emigration to america, because there is no u-Umlaut in american english. Some relative of mine are know named Liipfert Luepfert Lupfert Lypfert.

Anna Amalie Lpfert was married May, 22, 1871 in Penig Saxony (Coordinates: 50561N 124221) to Friedrich August Semper (born August 31, 1848 died November 18, 1904 in Chicago, Cook County, IL, US - that is 105 years ago).

How are you related to Anna Amalie?

Best regards,

RE: Shaw
My husband and Brian were very close. I met Brian and we became very close too. We lost touch with him around 1993 or 1994. I wanted to try and find him again, and I found this. My husband says it is him. We are so sorry for your loss. He meant the world to us. We were very close, and I miss him so much. He use to sing to me when I was pregnant with my oldest son. He was an unbelievable guy!!!

RE: Shaw
I know he wasn't in that war. He was in the Army, am I right? He was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, and then was briefly stationed in Korea. This would have been around the time his father passed away. If this is the right person he was a very close friend of ours at Fort Bragg. If not I am sorry for any mistake I have made.
