My grandmother was Lulu Clifford Cannon Williams (she was called Clifford). Horatio and Mary Ellen were her grandparents. Her mother was their daughter, Rebecca Tate Cannon. I assume a sister to your relative. Rebecca was married to Willie Cannon and died while their children were very young. I live on a farm NE of Lindale that Willie and Rebecca bought about 1895. My house was built in 1927 by my grandparents and Willie was still living. The other children moved away but my grandparents stayed on the place with Willie. Horatio's parents and a few others are bured in a private cemetery on a ranch about 2 or 3 miles west of here.

Thank you for adding the pictures of Horatio and Mary Ellen Tate's grave stone to the Lindale cemetery web site. They were my great, great, grandparents. I did not know exactly where they were buried in the cemetery. I can now find their graves because of this picture. God bless!

I stumbled across this site after reading an article about my great grand father, William Ogburn Huggins. I know he was named after Susan Ogburn but I don't have any information about about her family. What have you found? Thanks and good hunting!

You are welcome. I maintain two sites, one just for my family and one where I add people from the cemeteries that I go to and take pictures. I went on Sunday and looked for Robert Starr but did not find him. I looked again today and I am sorry to say that the pictures that I posted for Starr are the only ones in the cemetery. But close by there are several unmarked graves only with large rocks and one of these may be Robert and I think you sent me Margaret?

In the next week I will go back and take the pictures of the Starr headstones and maybe I will find the missing one then.
This cemetery was tricky to find and I could not find any directions to it except that it was on FM 314 or FM 315 so when I posted the cemetery pictures, I also posted the directions, but you must go to the pictures to see the directions!!

I located this cemetery, but did not find a headstone for Robert Starr. There were several other Starr headstones and if you would like pictures of them let me know and I can go back.

Sorry, I didn't mean to leave you hanging. I was waiting for Linda from DAR to get back with me with information she was going to find out from the funeral home. But since she hasn't contacted me, I thought I would forward what she did have. If you would like me to send you a jpg file of the obit, just drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org so I can get your e-mail address to attach it. Here's the rest of the information Linda gave me. Have a great day!
"I found in the S.S.Death Index that there was a Jonathan K. Mentor living in Tonopah, AZ & born 27 Jan 1929 & died 17 Nov 1999. The last known residence was Tonopah & the S.S. number was issued in CA.
The obit I found is Jon Mentor, following is what it says:
Jon Mentor, 70, Tonopah, a minister and lumber company employee, died Nov. 17,1999.
He was born in Moorpark, Calif., and was a Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Grace; daughters, Joyce Christie and Charitine Millermon; stepdaughters, Rhonda and Renita Kentch, Roberta Wing and Rebecha Kahlstros; stepsons, Robin Billingsley, Millie and Royce Kentch; sister, Lura Bertram; brother, Patrick Van Wormer; 25 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A little more info on your great uncle. Linda from the DAR found a Jonathan K. Mentor on the SS Index who was born 27 Jan 1929 and died 17 Nov 1999, last residence in Tonapah, AZ. On the Mesa Family History website, she found a listing for an obit for "Jon Mentor" in the Arizona Republic dated 21 Nov 1999. Linda will check the obit out when she goes to the capitol and see what it has to say. Maybe these are the correct dates. So strange, isn't it? Linda left for the capitol on the 13th, so I will probably hear from her soon. Just thought I'd keep you advised.
Yours in family history,

My friend Elaine and I were again out at the Hazelton Cemetery a few days ago and ran into a DAR gal who goes twice a month to the State capitol here in Arizona to look up obits for RAK (Random Acts of Kindness). Her chapter of the DAR has been doing an in-depth photo and info book on several cemeteries; Hazelton being one of them. Indeed, John is nowhere to be found at Hazelton. I did some internet obit searches for John, but couldn't find anything. Anyway, we got to talking with Linda (DAR) and she will look up John at the capitol. Additionally, she suggested that if you can prove you are related, you can contact the Arizona State Archives and they surely will be able to find out some information for you. Just type in "Arizona State Archives" on your search engine to find out where to contact them. Arizona's death records only go up to 1957 on the internet, so that wouldn't work.
P.S. By the way, I didn't find an obit for Grace either. Do you know where she is buried or have an obit for her?

You are very welcome. I can e-mail you the picture if you would like it. The madian name is Prezioso in case you can't read it. The grave number is 1306.

Yes, Stella Brown is buried with George. His name is on the front of the stone, hers is on the back. I didn't see a listing for her in Find A Grave, so I added the photo on his memorial. When I saw Stella's date of death, I assumed you wanted the picture for the anniversary. Quite a coincidence...if there are such things.
Have a good one....
