RE: Mary J Ellinger
I did read your note. Unfortunately, I haven't been to the cemetery, so I'm not in a position to say whether or not the stone is Mary's. It appears that the white headstone would have to be disinterred to see a) if it's legible and b) what it says.

RE: Mary Ellinger
You're correct--I entered the wrong date of death. It should be Sept. 6, 1863. Her birth date was July 25, 1863. I was working through an Ellinger family history transcription and must have picked up the date from someone other Ellinger. Sorry about that and thanks for double-checking me.

RE: Mary Catherine Woods
Hi CJ,
I was going by how her name was spelled on the Illinois, Deaths and Stillbirths Index. However, I have found her under the names of Kate Woods & Mary K Woods on US Census reports. So, I guess Catherine may have been spelled Katherine. I'll leave it up to you as to how you want her memorial to read. I've requested a photo of her headstone. Maybe that might help determine how you spell her middle name.
Thanks for contacting me and having me double check my info.
Judi

RE: Emma Combs
I used the Birth Date Calculator from Pro Genealogists to come up with the birth date of 22 Aug 1860

Nancy may be having senior moments. Sorry

I removed the photos so could you please add them to Mary Hodgson's site I created. Not trying to steal your thunder, just give a good representation. I certainly appreciate your photos.

RE: Mary Ellen Walter
We did make note of Mary Ellen's alternate grave on the Housh Walter Sumner Cemetery memorial for her. This would appear to be the best way to take care of both memorials. Thank you for the suggestion. Nancy G.

Mary Ellen Walter
CJ, Found where Mary Ellen Walter has two stones. One in Housh Walter Sumner Cemetery and the other in Maquon Cemetery. Same years. This may be confusing but I believe this is indeed the same person. I found no parents buried in Housh, but her stone says dau of T & S.J Walter. I believe she is buried in Housh. When her parents died, they had a new stone made for her and put it in Maquon where they were buried.

Mary Ellen in Housh Walter Sumner is #100252903
Mary Ellen in Maquon is #62413411

Your thoughts on this?

Prairie City Cemetery Info
Hello,
I'm looking for some people that I think may have been interred at Prairie City Cemetery, but there are no records. I noticed that you have posted many photographs from this cemetery. Are you able to check a reference for all interments there? I would like to find records for John Crawford (d. 1834) and for Sarah Ann Park (d. 1887). There is a grave marker for Sarah in Kansas, but I believe the marker was placed as a memorial and may not be her actual grave. All evidence points to the probability that she was still living in McDonough County at the time of her death, and the rest of her family is buried in Prairie City. Thanks for any info... or perhaps a point in the right direction! :-)
