May I have your permission to post David's photo on my Ancestry.com family tree? I am a Southerland descendant, from George Sutherland-Alford Sutherland-James Southerland-Katherine Southerland, who married my great grandfather, Leonard Long.

|JillR||RE: Rachel/David Ottinger|
An update on Rachel/David Ottinger....someone walked the Eagle Village cemetary in 1990 and both Rachel and David were listed...a later listing does not show them. Once again, I am assuming that their headstones may be unreadable. Another interesting note is a death listing I found today for Rachel...her burial is listed in yet another cemetary--called Eagle Creek Regular Baptist--this cemetary is on private property and very overgrown. So, I have a list of records to check at the courthouse and the Ottingers will be among them! Don't give up...the fat lady has yet to sing!! Jill

Thanks so much for your note! I am happy to help. I visited Eagle Village Cemetary today and am sorry to say that I did not find them. This cemetary is mostly stones from the 1800's, mostly the soft marble, many unreadable. Unless Rachel/David's estate didn't have the money to afford anything but the soft stone, I would hazard a guess that they are not buried there. The next closest cemetary is on private land, so I will need to get permission to check it out. This is a mystery I really want to solve for you and your family! I will keep you posted! Jill

You have probably received the "problem" note that I sent. Eagle Village Cemetary is located north of the ZIonsville Cemetary...outside of the town, but still in Eagle Township.
The mortuary records indicate the correct death years for Rachel and David. The date of death listed for Rachel is 3/29/1921. (I forgot to write down David's, but can certainly find it if you need me too.) No cause of death was listed in the mortuary records.
I have also checked the 1860/1870 census records to see if I can find more evidence of them in Boone County, Eagle township, but had to leave as the museum was closing!
My plan is to try to find the cemetary (a drive-by today was unsuccessful, but I have some other info about the cemetaries.) The listings in Eagle Village cemetary were from 1970's/1980's, so either the people who recorded it totally missed Rachel and David, or their stones may be unreadable. I will try my best and get back to you as soon as I can! Jill Ridge

|Garczar||RE: Martha Blinn|
I found her. She is buried in Section 42, lot 39, at Crown Hill. She is in the McCurdy Plot. She is listed in the online records incorrectly as Martha Blum.
I have pictures of the other McCurdy's in the plot, and will post today. They are Hester and Samuel. Hopefully this is helpful. It is always nice to slove a mystery.

I wanted to let you know that I might have stumbled upon an answer for where Martha Blinn is buried. I am going out to Crown Hill tonight after work, to test my theory. With any luck, I will have a photo to upload tomorrow.

I'm so glad you like the photo. I got so lucky with a pretty day. I went there to fill some photo requests and found them all! In between I took photos of all the gravestones with the same surname as requests for other cemeteries in the area (hamilton and boone counties). It was just something to do because the cemetery was so pretty! I even went back the next day.
I also added a memorial for her daughter Joyce. If you want it transferred to you, just let me know.
