Are you related to the above families that are buried throughout Grayson and Collin Counties? Eliza Jane Simpson Cato in the Elm Grove cemetery is my 4th great aunt.

RE: Dowell
I will try and find that old note. Cornelia Ogden was married to my Great Grandfather and she died at Basil Springs and 2 years later my Great Grandfather (her husband) married my Great Grandmother and they crossed the Red River in Indian Territory. They lived in Denison. Ill keep your number on file and if you don't mind I might have to ask you some questions on Grayson County Cemetery's.

Thank You

PS since Cornelia died at her brothers house in Basil Springs I always assumed she was buried there and I remember a note saying beside a Church. I will look for these notes.

RE: Mitchusson
Hi Dusty,

Sorry for the delay responding to your message.

Regarding the Mitchusson Cemetery in Grayson County, I don't have much information other than it is located somewhere near Gordonville, TX. It is a small family cemetery on a farm once owned by my Great Grandfather, James Ford Mitchusson, Jr.

I was made aware of the cemetery (when I was doing ancestry research on the Mitchusson family) by one of my distance cousins, Michael Mitchusson who lives in that area. He would be able to provide additional information. His email is

Just curious, what is your interest in this particular cemetery?

I you are interested in the Mitchusson family I have created a website at:

Please let me know if you have question or would like additional information.

No I cant. I wish I could but I've never searched for the cemetery and would like to but just never found the time. I have a (somewhere) old family note that says she was buried at Dowell Cemetery.

Are you kin to her.

RE: Andrews
I know very little about this cemetery. I had pictures of graves from 1965 that someone in our family had taken. I was able to contact a person in Texas, kathyburr, who had access to Grayson County cemetery listings & she located the names on the Andrews Hall Cemetery listing submitted by Mary Hayton. I added her notes to cemetery description when I entered it on findagrave.

No questions, but a huge thank you for posting the photos on this memorial. I hadn't seen any pictures and it's terrific to see what my folks looked like.

I don't know which you mean. Are they my memorials? I am unaware of any memorials I have in Grayson County. I'm unable to do much at this time. My husband had prostrate cancer surgery a week ago and is now in renal failure.

Washington monument
If I am not mistaken, the picture of the 3 tall momuments that I took and placed on the cemetery page had the name "Washington" on the tallest. I took this picture back in August of 1986 when I took my mother up there. That is why I believed her when she said the name of the cemetery was Old Washington Cemetery. The cemetery had just been mowed with a brushhog and a lot of the stones were damaged.

washington Cemetary also known as Howard Cemetery
I am the person who listed this cemetery. My mother always told me that it was Washington Cemetery, and since the county line was not marked on this road, I thought it was in Grayson County. I could not find anyone to verify what county. That is why I listed it in Grayson County. Since then I have learned that it is in Cooke County and is called Howard Cemetery. There are some Washingtons buried in this cemetery so that made sense to me since the tombstones are fairly large and there are several of them. And someone did say that it had been called Washington Cemetery. My mother's father was buried there in 1916 and she remembers the cemetery as Washington Cemetery. She is dead now so I can't question her.

hello again and transfer request
Dear Dusty,

(I sent you a private e-mail w/ this request, Dusty, but for some reason my e-mail isn't working. If you don't want to leave it here, feel free to delete it after it's read. Sorry for the long public note. Here is what I was trying to send you...)

I spoke with you last October and discovered that we are cousins. I've done quite a bit of work on my family tree since then and I've also been going through Sequatchie and Bledsoe Counties trying to photograph all the graves in our family graveyards. Many of the graves have been added to FindaGrave, but not photographed. Hopefully you'll find some new pictures the next time you're looking for relatives in those areas. :)

Anyway, I had a few grandparents I was wondering if you would consider transferring to my care. Here are the names:

50304233 Maggie Sutherland

50304282 Will Sutherland

50237291 James T. Sutherland

50237241 Mary Keedy

These are direct grandparents of mine. I think beyond Mary (her parents), they are actually your grandparents as well if I recall correctly. I do not want to ask you to transfer your own grandparents. :) But I'd love to have mind if you're willing.

I hope you're still doing well and enjoying the research! Let me know if I can do anything for you here. I have been trying to go to the cemeteries as much as I can to get photos, verify information, etc. I am also gathering family history information if you'd be interested in any of that. I can let you know if I find anything really great on the Keedy family. Currently I'm trying to figure out exactly how we're related to the Maryland Keedys... A challenge at best. There is a lot of information out there, but it's a lot to sort through.

Have a great day!

Hugh Edwards was my Grandma, Cora Edwards Dallas' first cousin. Their fathers, Robert Neal and Joseph Bonaparte were brothers.

I would like to have this site transferred to me, if you are not a family member. I have more information I would like to add to his site.

Thank you.
