Lanty Fulks
Hi, Susan. I am the great grand daughter of Ira Jenkins Fulks, brother or Lanty Fulks. I believe we have talked before but am unsure.
I do have a little information on Mahala Carpenter Fulks West that you might find interesting.
My mother, Wilma Jean Walker, her grand daughter helped Mahala make home brew when she was just a young girl. She got to put the bottle caps on.
Mahala sold her home brew to people late at night
after the bars had closed. This is how she subsidized her income.
Can you tell me anything about this family of Fulks. Do you know what happened to Cary Fulks?
Also, are you a member of Ancestry.com?
Regards,
Deborah Lavender Benson

RE: Hi!
Interesting! I see John and Sarah's memorials on here now. They just aren't linked to David. My grandmother's grandmother was Martha Adeline Yocum Palmer, daughter of Marcus "Mark" and Mary Ann Hendershot Yocum; granddaughter of Jacob and Lydia Rachel Wade Yocum; and great granddaughter of Samuel and Rebecca Strahl Yocum. I have that Samuel and Rebecca were married in 1795 in PA; they were Quakers. Samuel was the son of Johann Jacob and Maria Christina Mulhaus Yocum who were married in Trappe, Montgomery Co., PA in 1755.

Hi!
A fellow classmate of mine was dating the 4th great grandson of David Yocum (1821-1888). He just recently passed away at age 29. By reading his obituary in today's newspaper, I was able to learn that his paternal grandfather was Harry "Sonny" Yocum (died 2009), whose father, Harry D. Yocum (died 1971) was the son of Harry Yocum (died 1914), and he was the son of John D. Yocum (died 1918); John D. Yocum being the son of David Yocum (1821-1888). By searching online I discovered all this within about 15 minutes. I learned that David was the son of John and Sarah Yocum, but wasn't able to go beyond that. Do you know her maiden name, and/or do you know any further back on the Yocum side? I have a large Yocum database, and do not have these people. Just curious and hoping there may be some connection. My great great grandmother was a Yocum. Thanks!

Scott Nottingham
Sue, my great-great grandfather was Scott. John Elliott was my great grandfather (the infant you mentioned). After Scott died, Osceola Stephenson Nottingham married James Newton Hamrick and had eight children. John Elliott married Lydia Ferrell Hamrick (trying to learn if there is a family connection between Lydia and John Newton Hamrick's family). They had 11 children of which my grandfather (Richmond Ray Nottingham) was number five. He married my grandmother Nannie Frame and they had three children (Elinor Theo, Ronald Jack and Katherine Lynn). My mom, Elinor, married Homer Elvin Rapp and had three children (Samuel Elvin, Wm. Mark, which is me, and John Edward).

John Elliot died June 13, 1945 in Swandale, W.Va. and is buried in the Swandale/Hamrick Cemetery. So now have an idea of what became of John Elliott.

I have two questions:
1) Is there ever a Nottingham Reunion?
2) Is the spelling John Stewart or John Stuart Nottingham. I have seen several variation on the middle name.

P.S. I took my aunt and mother to Strange Creek Cemetery two years ago and my aunt could not get over being surrounded by so many dead Nottinghams.

I can be reached at markie51@roadrunner.com

RE: Rev. War John Jarvis
Thanks for the quick response.
I descend from 3 of John and Sarah Jarvis's sons:
Solomon on my dad's side and
Thomas & James on my mother's side.
Where are persons getting the middle name of Figgens for Thomas's middle name? I do not find it in any document to prove a middle name. TS & marriage records has just Thomas Jarvis. Several deeds list him as Thomas.....
Can anyone prove the middle name???

RE: Lanty Fulks
I also have Lanty's death certificate and Marriage to Gertie on Ancestry also. Cary Fulks and Mahala Carpenter are my great great grandparents. My great grand parents are Ira Jenkins Fulks West ( also brother to Lanty) and Nellie Blanche Morris.
Do you have any pictures of Mahala...I do know she's buried in Montgomery Memorial Gardens.

RE: Lanty Fulks
I don't know if Lanty and Gertie had any children. My mother doesn't remember any. You realize your mother and my mother are related...don't you?
Do you have a site on ancestry?
Just as of yeaterday I sent an email to a woman by the name of "Bonita" who has maintained sites on Find A Grave with family photographs. Do you know who she is? And are you aware that some of Cary and Mahala's Children didn't use the Fulks last name. Mahala remarried a West and some of her and Cary's children decided to carry the West name instead of Fulks...
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Deborah Lavender Benson
