|Shawdau||still workin on Terre Haute|
Thank you for all your contributions. My cousin and my neighbor both died this week - yikes. I went to my sister's house to fix my new healthcare and there were 9 firetrucks in front of her house - a neighbor's house was burning and my brother in law had to come out to get me. Merry Christmas, despite all this - and happy new year.

# 69343830. Thanks for letting me know I created a dulicate--I did a search first and nothing came up. I found the burial records and didn't seem to have many of the people on findagrave, so I spend the day adding them even though they aren't "mine". I know my greatgrand parents very likely knew them :)

Can you tell me if there is a stone for John and Mary, please? I see there is a request for one on the page. I am wondering if this is why it hasn't been filled.

|Family Searcher||RE: Ivan Hawthorne Baird|
I myself am a veteran, I served 20 years. I am well acquainted in protocol. I am directly descended from those who served in the American Rev, War of 1812, Civil War, WW I, and WW II. I have sons fighting in the current wars.
My take on including the deceased veteran's rank, if known and available, is to make it stand out as a veteran's memorial. As far as if the deceased person's rank precedes their name, well I can not think of any VA/government supplied headstone in the past 150 years that is written that way. They tend to be
rank / service
(optional added statement in the last few years have been allowed at the bottom)
Very simple be it an upright or flat marker.
As for my apparent thoughts of my cousin having passed away in St Louis I am at a loss as to what or where my reference is. Why is he buried where he is. Well there has been family in the area since the 1800s. That would be home area for him.
Yes, he was in the Foreign Service in the early 20th century. I have seen his passport application stating such on ancestry.com
So in closing I am simply asking that his service be recognized. That is done via including his rank. Thank you.

Would you please consider adding my cousin's rank of Sgt to his name line? He served and has earned that rank during his service. Among my reasons for the adding is this way veteran's memorials stand out.

Marcia, here are 3 more examples of the foiling technique I learned from your Find A Grave page. On one it brings it out really well, on the other two, it does help quite a bit but the stones themselves are weathered.
All 3 are siblings.

No problem with the mix-ups. If you would like anyone transferred, just send an Edit. I know it's much easier to update them when you have control. Thanks for your work on them!

|Lance W||LaHarpe, IL cemetery|
I was wondering if you had some in depth info on the LaHarpe Cemetery. Do your records show a Benjamin F Hamilton buried there? He was born in about 1839 and died in about 1873. Any info you have on his burial whereabouts would be great. If you can confirm he is buried there, could you add a memorial for him and possibly the plot location description, if you have it? If not, just let me know and I could create the memorial as well. Thanks for your time. :) - Lance

Hi Marcia, above memorial #130657121, Friendship Cemetery , McDonough co., Illinois. Are you a descendant of the Willis family? You have so much information on her memorial, I thought I would ask. She is in my tree; a sister to my gr gr grandfather, Tilghman Willis (Jr.). If you have an obit for her, would love to get a copy. Thanks. Ann

|Nancy Meadows||John D Lain|
I added his memorial based on a listing done by Robert and Mae Couch in the 1980's, I think. They have him as J. D. Lain, buried next to William J Lain. Next to William is L Lane - 1957 homemade marker. I live a couple hours away, but plan to photograph this cemetery hopefully in the next month or two.
I obviously goofed with the spouse link, so have removed it. If you would like him transferred, I'll be happy to, along with any other relations of yours I may have added.
Thanks for contacting me!

Thank you for the information on Quinton and his parents. I am working on Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, IL right now - wow - hundreds of people not noted and I'm on my FIRST of five visits. There are Manifolds there (Tillie E Manifold)!

In case you didn't know about this resource, it looks like his marriage was to Anna Theresa Connelly in Pennington Co. which is up north. Maybe he went to the Dakota's for a while?

Sorry I somehow missed the other memorial, I always double check just to make sure that I don't create a duplicate. I have deleted the one the I created. Thanks for letting me know.

I entered his name the way it was in a book of cemetery burials. The death index has his name as Porter Earl, and you say that's what it is so I will change it. FYI, the book also has a note that his grave was purchased by Old Age Assistance and it doesn't appear that he has a grave marker.

Would you allow me to use the photo of John & Marietta's headstone in my private family tree. It is not public and I have no intention of making it public at this time. I would of course make sure I have your name listed as my source and will not share it with anyone else. Either way, thank you for your considerations. Cindy
