I can only add parents and spouses to a memorial. You can add George as a father to Blanche by clicking Edit on her memorial, then Relationship, put George's memorial number in the father space and click submit.

Hi Sharon! I just happened across one of your relatives while looking at Cates in Cass County. This is where I live! If I had only known.. relatives in P. Hill. I really haven't made any significant progress in figuring out the family but keep trying - hope you are well.

I looked on Find A Grave and I can not read it and I do not keep the photos. His death certificate is too old to show up in Missouri Archives as I looked, the only thing is for someone to go back and retake the photo.

Would it be possible for you to send me a family group sheet for you father, mother, you and your siblings. I only have him married to emma Painter with one child. I guess I got this from Joyce. I would love the picture of you, Joyce and the others. Isn't it sad that family drift away so quickly. Ours did also.

Hi Sharon,
How do I do that, I've never done that before?
The child he had with Emma Painter would be Ernest LeRoy Cates. I think I saw that Ernest was born in 1915 and died in 1999.
Yes it is so sad but I'm hoping it's temporary. They need me as much as I need them.

RE: John Calvin Cates Sr
I have that Benjamin Cates b-1727-1730 D-12-02-1798 and Mary Ann no dates was the parents of John Calvin Cates Sr. No proof.
Who was your father?
We are related by John Calvin Cates, Sr. and Mary harrington.
My line with their child Jacob M (H) Cates and your line with Charles Cates and Nancy Willis.
I show that Charles died 01-22-1885 (this date was not on your above e-mail).
I have a good friend Joyce Cates Coble who was the daughter of Edwin Farnsworth Cates. Edwin was the son of Moore Edward Cates. Do you know her and where I can get ahold of her? I can't find my address book since moving.

The Benjamin Cates I have was born 1704 and died 1798 and was a Sr. I also have a Benjamin "jr" who was born 1730 and no known death date.
My father was Paul William Cates 2/17/1893 - 6/1/1963 m Ola Mae Welch/Welsh born 5/1/1914 (they were 1st cousins).
Joyce is my 1st cousin, her father Edwin and my father Paul were brothers. For the record their father was Edward Moore Cates 8/25/1855 - 5/29/1934.
I had met Joyce and one of her sisters (Vivian) down in Woodland, California during the Scottish Games 1993/94, stayed in touch briefly and then never heard from her again. I can send you the one photo I have of Joyce, Sally, myself, and a friend of the family...Fred. I'd have to send it to you via your personal email address. I received a cute email from Vivian and then never heard from her again.
That's cool that we're related, we're also related to June Ford and Victoria "Vicky" Durand.
Sorry I couldn't help more.
I'm working on Family Search and Ancestry, and 23andMe.

No, I'm not related to Jim O'Dell, he and Clarice were friends of ours. As are their kids, Larry, Mike and Stephany. If you are related, or a friend of the family, I will transfer the Memorial to you.

I seen your very old message on Eddys Fay Hartman Hunt that you left for Bonnie Myers (#46851322), do you still need answers after all this time, I can give them to you if you want. The Hartman family that Eddys belongs to is my grandmother's family in Michigan.

The death certificate number is 22839. The name is given as Bettie Joe Hooper. The date of death was August 7th, 1924; she lived 12 hours.

The stone was evidently set years after the baby's death, which helps explain the discrepancy in the dates. I can only conjecture about the difference in names.

RE: James Bailey
Sharon, I am sorry not to be able to answer your question. But

1) I am happy to transfer him to you...
2) I would click on "request a photo" and hopefully a volunteer in that area could locate his grave and post a photo.

RE: Jacob Cates
But what makes you think Charles was his brother? That's the part that gets me! Do you have a will or letters or something? Charles was living in Clay Co 1830, near the Willis & Poteet families, & the only other Cates there was an Alphord Cates that I've never been able to figure out. There was at least one Harrington around if I remember right, so it makes sense, but where is the link?

Sorry, I don't have proof of anything Cates before Charles m. Nancy Willis! I think the things you gave me are the most convincing but as to proof, I wonder how you even know that Jacob was his brother. I've seen all kinds of Cates stuff but somehow it just doesn't quite connect. Family lore says that Charles & Nancy were "Indian thru & thru" which doesn't seem quite right but it sure looks as if they were somehow separated from family even tho nearby, & I've wondered if they may have had Native Am parent who married into these 2 families. Charles did say in one census that he was b. W. TN - but I've begun to realize that that could mean Middle TN at the time he said it, so not sure how much it means. I may already have this, but don't have my notes with me: when was Jacob born, & where did he settle? I'll take a look at my notes asap, maybe something will jump out at me..

My record only cover Millard and Bertha. I don't have any children listed.
Find A Grave lists Anna Kate on Millard and Bertha's memorial, I didn't make the link. Best guess is Tony Martin he the one that added all the photos.

Hi Sharon,

I did some checking and I would go with the memorial in Union Cemetery since there is a stone there for her. Do you know where Green Sewell is buried? That name sounds familiar. Jim
