RE: cool family
Well, they moved around quite a bit. My ggrandmother, Sara, was born in Iowa. Her father, Marcus, was born in Kentucky. His father was born in Ohio territory, and his father was born in Virginia.

RE: blomberg
No, I live in Washington State. My daughter's mother (to whom I was never married) is the greatgranddaughter of Herman Blomberg, Peter's older brother. Some of Herman's descendents moved to this area during World War II to work in the shipyards. Some of Henry Blomberg's children (Henry was Peter's other older brother) settled in the Yakima, Washington area in the 1920's. I've never made contact with them yet. I have contact with another Finnish side of the family in Minnesota buut not the Blomberg side.

RE: Blomberg
No, I've been researcking that for a while and can't find any info. I do know he and his wife, Hilda, had a son named John, who died from colitis close to the age of 2 and he's buried in Mokomon Cemetery, Conmee Township, District of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.

I did have a question about two people in your tree.

In a 1930 Census there are two girls livimg in the home of Peter & Hanna Blomberg in Homestead, Otter Tail, Minnesota: Esther and Hulda Blomberg. These two girls were born before Peter and Hannah Blomberg were married in 1922. Esther was born August 7, 1917 and Hulda, April 30, 1919. In the 1930 Census they are listed as daughters, but in a 1920 Census I found Hanna lving in the home of John H Karkinen in Runeberg, Becker, Minnesota. Hannah is listed as his sister and Esther and Hulda are listed with the last name Karkinen and as John Karkinen's nieces. Did Hannah have a previous marriage or are they adopted? Well, let me know if you know.

I'll keep looking for John Peter;s death and I should have that marriage license by next week.

RE: Blomberg
Thank you so smuch for confirming your grandfather for me. I've been woring on the Blomberg Family Tree for close to four years now and have been able to track only three of Herman's brothers and sisters, Henry, Augusta and now Peter. There is some info I have on Peter Blomberg that I'm not sure if it is accurate. For example, I have a Peter Blomberg living in Canada I believe between 1908 and 1918. The info says this Peter Blomberg served in the United States military for a few years (which I know your grandfather did) and is a widower. Additional data from the Canadian info lists a son, John, who's mother was Sofia Karkkonen or maybe Karkinnen, I'm not sure. I know Peter did marry Hannah Karkkinen in 1922.
Also, Herman was married to Eva Tabell who died a few hours after giving birth to the quadruplets. A few years later he married Sophia (Wuornos) Kehus, a widow, and they had two boys from their marriage, Jack and Charles, both of whom died in 1976. My daughter, on her mom's side, is descended from Jack.
If you send me your email address I would be more than happy to send you an invite to the Blomberg family tree on so if you have time you can look over my data and feel free to correct or add whatever info you wish. It was great to hear from you and thanks again.

Blomberg Family
I just wanted to confirm if this Peter Blomberg is the younger brother of Herman Blomberg who came from Finland and settled in New York Mills, Minnesota. My daughter would be Herman Blomberg's great-great granddaughter (on her mom's side). I can be contacted at rodmorken@

Thank you
Hope your Christmas was wonderful. We had a white Christmas with snow starting early on Christmas Eve. By evening they were warning people to stay off the road. So we are getting together to celebrate Christmas on Saturday.

Harrington Family
Hi Frances! Actually, my family came from MN. My Grandfather was from Sleepy Eye. My GGGrandfather was from Lockport, Niagara County NY. You probably that there were two Harrington brothers who came to the US. Richard went up thru NY and VT and William went south. I believe I am descended from Richard but I can't prove it...yet.

I am so grateful for the time you took to honor my daughter, Kara, and my niece, Rona, on their Angel Day. They left us so young and they both had a small child. Rona will be a Grandma in August and Kara's son is now 16. Thank you. I hope you are blessed with your heart's desire.
